Description

Macmillan is seeking a highly strategic and results-driven Senior Program Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) team. This role will combine program management, business process analysis, and change management to drive efficiency, optimize financial workflows, and ensure alignment between business operations and technology initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in finance-related projects, business process transformation, and technology implementation within complex environments. Experience with Jira, Confluence, business process modeling, and change management is required to enhance collaboration, governance, and execution.

What you'll do:



  • Program Management & Execution

    • Lead the end-to-end planning, execution, and governance of strategic initiatives related to finance, royalty management, and business process optimization.
    • Define program scope, milestones, deliverables, and resource needs while ensuring alignment with PMO and business priorities.
    • Utilize Jira (for task and workflow management) and Confluence (for documentation and collaboration) to track program progress and stakeholder updates.
    • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate risks while ensuring timely resolution of roadblocks.


  • Business Process Analysis & Optimization

    • Analyze, define, and optimize finance, accounting, and royalty management workflows, ensuring efficiency, compliance, and reduced reliance on SMEs.
    • Develop detailed process maps, workflow diagrams, and operational documentation to standardize best practices.
    • Partner with finance and operations teams to enhance financial tracking, reporting, and process automation.
    • Leverage business process modeling tools (e.g., DrawIO, Visio, Lucidchart) to map and optimize workflows for better alignment between business and technology.


  • Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

    • Act as the primary liaison between business teams, IT, and vendors, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
    • Work closely with finance, accounting, royalty teams, and technology stakeholders to define business requirements and translate them into actionable system and process improvements.
    • Collaborate with technology teams to align system enhancements with business needs, ensuring seamless adoption.
    • Drive supplier accountability by identifying and resolving gaps in vendor deliverables.


  • Change Management & Business Adoption

    • Lead structured change management initiatives, ensuring smooth transitions for new processes, systems, and tools.
    • Drive business process-focused training, user acceptance testing (UAT), and stakeholder engagement to maximize adoption.
    • Promote best practices in project governance, business process standardization, and continuous improvement.




What you'll bring:



  • 7+ years of experience in program management, business process transformation, or related fields.
  • Strong expertise in Jira and Confluence, with the ability to manage workflows, dashboards, and documentation effectively.
  • Proven experience in business process modeling, finance-related workflows, and change management.
  • Familiarity with finance operations, royalty management, accounting workflows, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to bridge business and technology teams effectively.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Experience with Bibliosuite is a plus, particularly in:

    • Metadata management and workflow automation.
    • Publishing operations, including financial reporting and royalty tracking.
    • Integrations with finance and royalty systems for improved efficiency.


  • Experience in the publishing industry or with a major publishing company is a significant plus, as it provides insight into industry-specific financial processes, content lifecycles, and workflow management.


Certifications (Preferred but Not Required):



  • PMP, PRINCE2, PROSCI (Change Management), SAFe Agile, or Lean Six Sigma.


This role will have an annual salary of $112,000 - $130,000.
