What you will do The Production Supervisor is responsible for assuring that the assigned department is operated in the most profitable and efficient basis through proper utilization of assigned manpower, materials, equipment and space. This role directly supervises Production Team members. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems. How you will do it
Facilitate and direct team members workflow within the assigned department, including distributing work, disseminating information, assigning team members for absences, answering questions, and resolving problems within the work unit adhering to Union Collective Bargaining Agreement and plant policies. Consult with team members regarding on-the-job problems to include low production, poor quality, poor attendance, tardiness, etc. Document any and all problems and provide action plans to Production Manager for disposition. Control costs within budget levels, minimizing scrap and rework costs. Anticipate and react to production problems or delays, materials shortages and equipment malfunctions. Provide technical support to the team to achieve plant KPIs. Observe production operation within area of control to ascertain compliance with methods, quality standards, safety regulations, production standards and efficient operation of equipment; take corrective action to eliminate any deviation (i.e., 5S, Materials at Point of Use, MRB, and Quality at the Source as well as others as required). Process all required forms in a timely manner for Payroll and Human Resources (i.e., PAF's, Time off Requests, etc.). Work with Engineering to improve areas of cost reduction, work simplification, production scheduling and labor planning. Supervise, evaluate and train the work group. Assist in accident investigation and corrective action. Promote safe work environment and ensure employees follow all safety policies. Attend safety and quality meetings when needed. Maintain accurate production and employee records. Maintain fair and consistent application of all company policies and procedures. Apply LEAN tools to measure and improve the departments Key Business Drivers (i.e. VSM, SMED, 5s, TPM, Kaizen, etc.). Promote plant wide teamwork and positive morale.
What we look for Required:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of one (1) year of experience working in a manufacturing environment OR Associate degree and a minimum of six (6) years of experience working in a manufacturing environment OR an equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two (2) year of experience working as a Production Supervisor in a environment. Must be present during shift change for hand offs between 1st and 2nd shifts. Proficiency using MS Office Suite.
Preferred:
Bilingual in Spanish and English. Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, SPC and TPM.
