Rapiscan, an OSI Systems Company is seeking a Summer Intern - Mechanical Engineer, based out of Billerica, MA.

Responsibilities

  • Design and construct a prototype x-ray imaging system as a part of a Research & Development project.
  • Candidate should be able to design in SolidWorks CAD software, procure or print prototype parts and construct prototype assemblies.
  • Project is focused on integration of prototype x-ray systems for cargo and vehicle inspection.
  • The candidate should be able to communicate design work, document progress, and present results.

  • It is the responsibility of every employee to report to their manager or a member of senior management any quality problems or defects in order for corrective action to be implemented and to avoid recurrence of the problem.
  • Duties may be modified or assigned at any time to meet the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited Bachelor or Master of Science degree program in either Mechanical, Civil or Aerospace engineering
  • Must be able to commit to 10-weeks starting in May or June 2025.
  • Must reside within a daily commuting distance throughout internship.
  • Solid foundation in mechanical design (including experience with SolidWorks) strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with mechanical design, prototyping and integration preferred.
