Overview

Coverage Area: Montgomery & Price George's County

Qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse (RN) with active state licensure.
  • Leadership experience in clinical operations, preferably in home health.
  • Strong strategic planning, communication, and management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and oversees all direct and indirect patient services provided by clinical organization personnel
  • Develops, plans, implements, analyzes and organizes clinical operations for the branch
  • Provides guidance and counseling to coordinators and Clinical Supervisors to assist them in continually improving all aspects of hospice care services, provided through organization personnel
  • Assists Clinical Supervisors in managing clinical teams and planning
  • In the absence of the Executive Director/Administrator, the Director, Clinical Operations will become the acting Executive Director/Administrator and will be vested with authority to act on behalf of the Executive Director/Administrator
  • Provides help in assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient and family/caregiver care to all clinical personnel as indicated
  • Assists the Executive Director/Administrator in the preparation and administration of the organization's budget
  • Interprets operational indicators to detect census changes and increases or decreases in volume that could impact staffing levels, revenues or expenses
  • Responsible for the QAPI activities. Conducts/participates in quarterly quality improvement meetings, reviews pertinent available data, including infections, outcomes, satisfaction surveys, complaints and incidents; identifies trends and oversees the implementation of improvement plans
  • Evaluates performance of Clinical Supervisors
  • Assists Clinical Supervisors to develop skills and techniques in evaluating the performance of clinicians
  • Hires, evaluates, and terminates organization personnel
  • Conducts annual evaluations on clinicians, or more frequently if indicated
  • Oversees the maintenance of patient clinical records, statistics, reports and records for purposes of evaluation and reporting of organization activities
  • Accountable for the oversight of and response to external and internal surveys and audits within assigned area relating to the quality of care and clinically related metrics. Ensures deficiencies identified are addressed and corrected
  • Assures proper maintenance of clinical records in compliance with local, state and federal laws
  • Responsible for the maintenance of adequate and appropriate inventory supplies and equipment for the provision of patient services
  • Develops, implements and evaluates the orientation program for new organization personnel. Responsible for orientation of new organization personnel, directly or delegated
  • Plans and implements in-service and continuing education programs to meet education and training needs of organization personnel
  • Assures for the quality and safe delivery of hospice services provided through the Organization
  • Assists in the development of organization goals. Develops, recommends, and administers Organization policies and procedures
  • Partners with Sales Directors and Account Executive(s) to meet budgeted admission goals. Participates in sales and marketing initiatives
  • Assures compliance with all local, state and federal laws regarding licensure and certification of organization personnel and maintains compliance to accrediting body standards
  • Stays informed about changes in the field of nursing and home health care, shares information with appropriate organization personnel
  • Promotes home health referrals in the health care community
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director/Administrator


Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory and administrator experience as a Registered Nurse in a Medicare certified home health agency
  • Maintains Licensure/Registration in good standing in the state(s) in which he/she currently practices. Current driver's license. Must have reliable transportation and insurance. Must meet clinical requirements in the practicing state.
  • Must meet all agency requirements for pre- employment as required by the company and/or State regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of business management, government regulations and accreditation standards
  • Capable of working responsibly with highly confidential information
  • Demonstrates effective leadership skills to motivate, educate, supervise and support staff in the development of a cohesive team
  • Demonstrates knowledge of current quality improvement methodology. Competent to utilize generally accepted quality improvement monitoring and reporting tools and methods
  • Ability to work flexible schedules with extended hours and may be asked to rotate on-call
  • Must be capable of prioritizing and handling multiple tasks of critical importance simultaneously
  • Must function well in atmosphere of stress and with frequent interruptions
  • Travel up to 20%
