Overview |
The School of Environmental and Biological Sciences, located on the George H. Cook Campus, is one of the largest schools of Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey. We pursue excellence in research, teaching, and outreach in areas of study that address the biological spectrum from molecules to ecosystems. Our emphasis is on both the fundamental sciences and the social and human dimensions. We offer 21 undergraduate majors, including plant and animal sciences, microbiology, biotechnology, agriculture and food systems, landscape architecture, food and nutritional sciences, ecology and evolution, marine science and oceanography, environmental sciences and meteorology, human ecology, entomology, and environmental economics.
In addition to instruction in the classroom, field, and laboratory, our students have opportunities for experiential learning on and off campus, including a growing emphasis on international experiences through short- and long-term study abroad. Students also have access to a robust program of applied research and outreach hosted by the New Jersey Agricultural Experiment Station laboratories, farms, business incubators, and marine stations throughout the state. |

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking Seasonal Agricultural Workers for the School of Environmental and Biological Sciences. Position reports to and takes direction from the Research Farm Manager or Field Researcher

Among the key duties of the position are the following:
- Maintains turfgrass research areas and other research experiments on the farm.
- Involves experience with/or will train successful applicant in the operation of tillage and/or professional mowing equipment, as well as executing fertilization and irrigation applications as requested by the research project leaders.
- Assists in the maintenance and repairing all of the research farm facilities including, but not limited to, turf research and farm equipment.
- Assists in the preparation of the research farm for field days, educational programs or public programs that are held at the facility.
- Performs additional research farm duties as directed.

- Will train to operate turf and/or farm equipment.
- Must be able to work independently once trained in farm operations and conscientiously complete all assigned work.

Special Conditions |
- Must be 18 years of age or over to apply.
- Work week schedule is determined by the Research Farm Manager, but is typically 40 hours from 7:30 AM/8AM to 4:00 PM/4:30PM daily for up to 9 months of consecutive service at the Rutgers University Plant Science Research & Extension Farm in Freehold, NJ.
- Salary rate is commensurate with the candidate's work experience in relation to the described job duties and/or education requirements of the position.
- Occasional paid overtime may be required during peak periods because of work load and/or weather conditions.
