Utility Driver

Under the directions of the Manufacturing Manager, the incumbent is responsible for ensuring the safe packing and shipment of glass and other materials to be distributed to customers.

Duties and Responsibilities:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

  • Observes and adheres to all safety related rules and procedures.
  • Keeps scheduled raw glass staged at cutting and grinding operations.
  • Maintains racks assigned to W.I.P. (Work In Process) floats and assets.
  • Delivers raw and W.I.P. (Work In Process) glass to the correct locations.
  • Assisting in departmental housekeeping, maintaining a clean and orderly work areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Must have the ability to utilize hand tools including air hammers.
  • Ability to read, write and understand verbal instructions.
  • Must have the ability to do simple calculations.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively.
  • Must be able to drive a tow motor and maintain appropriate certification.

DIFFICULTY OF WORK

Work is of some complexity requiring a moderate degree of decision making in the application of procedures and methods in determining appropriate remedies for varied and diverse set-up problems. Work is performed under the direction of the shift supervisor, with periodic review of assignments.

PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS

Incumbents have contact with other plant employees. The purpose of these contacts is to exchange information regarding immediate needs and specific processes within the production line and to maintain production and quality standard and goals.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

Incumbent works with frequent exposure to dust, grease, extreme temperature, and is involved in work that may involve major injury or loss of life. Physical effort is exerted regularly for sustained periods and may include heavy lifting, pulling, pushing, reaching, and bending.

SUPERVISION This position does not supervise anyone.

HOURS Monday-Thursday; 6:00am-4:00pm
