Intermediate Piping Designer

Purpose of the Role:
As an Intermediate Piping Designer, you will assist with the delivery of design and drafting services to Worley and its customers. Under supervision, you will be responsible for understanding of the project's scope, overall schedule, deliverables, milestones, manhour budgets, industry standards, applicable codes, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

* Apply knowledge of client procedures, project specifications, and industry standards to piping design.

* Develop and maintain a 'Needs List' to request information necessary for project progression.

* Utilize 3D modeling software (AVEVA E3D/Navisworks) to review design quality and ensure compliance with project requirements.

* Coordinate piping design efforts with other engineering and design disciplines.

* Adhere to deliverable verification procedures to maintain design integrity.

* Conduct piping drawing checks and verification, both in-office and in-field settings.

* Use AVEVA 3D software to develop piping models, pipe supports, equipment models, and extract isometric and orthographic drawings.

* Participate in design reviews, contributing technical expertise to optimize layouts and ensure constructability and maintainability.

* Create general arrangements for plant facilities, structures, and equipment while ensuring safety and accessibility for maintenance and construction.

* Perform field design work, including walk-downs using P&IDs to locate tie points, gather dimensional data, and route piping through existing facilities.

* Identify and document pipe support types and integrate field data into the AVEVA E3D model.

* Work on projects that may include laser scanning technology; experience incorporating laser scan data into AVEVA E3D is a plus.

Qualifications / Skillset

Technical Expertise & Experience:



  • 3-5+ years of progressively responsible experience in piping design.
  • Strong understanding of engineering and drafting concepts, with a general awareness of other disciplines' roles in the design process.
  • Proficiency in PC-based design tools, including 2D CAD and 3D CAD software.
  • Experience in executing projects within existing facilities with complex obstructions and design constraints.
  • Knowledge of piping and layout design for power generation and industrial facilities (chemical facility experience is a plus).
  • Hands-on experience with AVEVA E3D, with a minimum of 2 years utilizing this platform.
  • Familiarity with Microstation V8i and AutoCAD for piping design applications.
  • Experience using 3D model review software, specifically AVEVA E3D (minimum of 3 years preferred).

  • High level of attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive project information.
  • Willingness to travel or accept field assignments as needed.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment.


Education & Certifications:



  • Required: Two-year technical diploma with piping design-specific training.
  • Preferred: An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.


Compensation & Benefits



  • Pay Range: $36.40/hr. - $53.53/hr. (commensurate with experience).
  • Benefits Package Includes: Paid Time Off (PTO), 401(k) retirement plan, medical, vision, and dental coverage, among others.
