DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will collaborate closely with mechanics to acquire the necessary skills for safe and efficient operation. As an intern, you will develop competencies in general repairs and maintenance and repair duties for a fleet of construction equipment, trucks, automobiles and hand tools. Repair and maintenance work is performed on hydraulic, electrical, heating, cooling, exhaust systems and manual and automatic transmissions. Your responsibilities will encompass general repair and preventative maintenance tasks, including oil and tire changes, brake inspections and replacements, exhaust system evaluations and replacements, suspension inspections and repairs, air conditioning diagnostics and repairs, as well as documenting repairs and interpreting work orders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Work schedule will vary based on agreement between high school and COPA location
  • This internship will run July 1, 2025 and end on June 30, 2026.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Internship Requirements:

  • You must be at least 16 years of age.
  • You must be a junior or senior enrolled in high school during the 2025 - 2026 school year.
Additional Requirements:
  • You must be a vo-tech (career and technical center) student in an approved cooperative vocational program that has prepared the student for the duties and description of work described in this posting.
  • Letter of Recommendation: You must attach a Letter of Recommendation from your school's co-op coordinator, career or guidance counselor, or similar designated school professional indicating you meet your school's requirements and are being recommended for this opportunity.
  • Work Permit: Minors will be required to submit their Work Permit upon acceptance of this position.
  • By participating in this program, the student and school agree to use the Commonwealth's Training Plan, Statement of Responsibilities, and Student Performance Evaluation. Forms will be provided to the student upon acceptance of this position.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
