The successful candidate will support and execute experimental protocols, maintain laboratory equipment, and ensure accurate data collection and analysis. This role requires a strong technical background in laboratory procedures, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. The Senior Research Technician will also assist in training junior staff and contribute to maintaining a high standard of laboratory operations. Key Responsibilities and Essential Functions * Performs non-routine sample collection duties and assists others with their routine sample collection duties. * Schedules and organizes blood, urine and tissue sample collection from mice and subsequent analysis by Scientific Services. * Lead and coordinate research projects, ensuring timely and successful completion. * Maintains the isoflurane equipment and setup and orders supplies needed for day-to-day lab operations as needed. * Learns fundamental process of biomethod techniques, animal euthanasia and restraint, ear notch and tattoo identification methods, and the harvesting of tissues. * Promptly interprets genotyping results for colony maintenance. * Leads irradiator user status for the cesium irradiator and has the responsibility of signing off on chemical waste storage inspection. * Train and mentor junior research staff and technicians, fostering a collaborative and educational environment. * Ensure the accuracy, reliability, and reproducibility of experimental results through rigorous quality control procedures. * Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities * Successful completion of Lab Animal Science or equivalent experience * Biomethods training, or ability to quickly obtain such, resulting in the ability to ear notch mice, collect peripheral blood, tail tips, and cull mouse colonies * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot experimental issues effectively * Proficiency in advanced laboratory techniques, data analysis software, and research methodologies. * Knowledge of barrier room function. * Detail orientated, flexible, ability to multi-task and remain focused. * Week-end and holiday work may be required on a rotating basis or as dictated by research needs.
