Junior Accountant Job Summary:

Our client, a well-established financial services firm, is seeking a Junior Accountant to support its accounting and financial operations. This role will assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance, while ensuring accurate financial reporting. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and has a strong foundation in accounting principles, with an interest in public accounting, tax, or financial management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processing, including invoice entry and payment reconciliation.
  • Support bank and credit card reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial transactions.
  • Prepare and post journal entries to the general ledger.
  • Assist in month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Maintain and update financial records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Help prepare financial reports, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Assist with tax preparation, audit documentation, and compliance reporting.
  • Conduct variance analysis, expense tracking, and cost allocations.
  • Work closely with senior accountants and financial analysts to improve financial processes and reporting.
  • Provide support during internal and external audits by gathering necessary documentation.
  • Perform other administrative and accounting-related tasks as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or working towards completion).
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience, including internships or entry-level positions.
  • Strong understanding of basic accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax fundamentals.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP).
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and eagerness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, or general ledger accounting.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, tax laws, and financial regulations.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems or accounting software.
  • Interest in pursuing a CPA license or other financial certifications.

  • the individual's skill sets, experience and training;
  • licensure and certification requirements;
