About the Job

Summary of the Position:

This role provides support for the management, processing, and analysis of data generated in the University of Minnesota's Tissue Mapping Centers, which aim to chart in situ senescent cell biology as components of the NIH Common Fund's Cellular Senescence Network (SenNet) Consortium. The researcher in this position works with biologists, data analysts, and aging experts to implement informatics tools and explore high-complexity omics datasets generated from tissue samples in an effort to understand the systems underpinning senescence and the biology of aging, as well as the strengths and limitations of such new cutting-edge technologies.

Data Processing and Analysis (70%)

Perform custom data analysis on single-cell and spatial datasets using Python libraries (scanpy, squidpy, etc.) and/or R libraries (Seurat, etc). Apply new open-source informatics tools and asses their utility in characterizing cellular senescence. Assist with formatting directories, data files, and metadata for ingestion into other pipelines.

Script Development (20%)

Compile scripts to run on subsequent datasets. Optimize scripts to be run in an interactive, user-friendly manner.

Data Interpretation & Reporting (10%)

Document analysis and discuss findings. Present analysis and findings to other SenNet researchers within the Minnesota Tissue Mapping Center.

BS/BA or combination of education and experience to equal 4 years.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20 - $25/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment

Position Type: Civil-Service & Non-Faculty Labor Represented Staff
