Lab Customer Service Representative - afternoon/evening

SHIFT HOURS:

2:30pm to 7:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday plus one holiday per year on a rotating schedule. Occasional weekend day shift may be required in exchange for a day off during the week.

DESCRIPTION:

The position is responsible for providing technical and general support to all users of services in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, this includes UVMMC and non UVMMC MDs, NPs, MAs, PAs, nurses, office staff, patients and all of the other 13 hospitals in VT and several hospitals in NY, NH, ME & MA. Responsibilities include: a general understanding of all laboratory depts. (clinical & anatomical), detailed knowledge in the use of relevant computer applications including, but not limited to, Atlas, Epic, Beaker, MayoAccess, Sharepoint Lab Portal, Excel, Microsoft Office and Intelliweb.

They must also have the ability to use a multi-line phone system, to troubleshoot a wide variety of problems with remote fax, printer and centrifuge devices, to utilize troubleshooting tools, to accurately log phone calls, to appropriately escalate problems, and to coordinate resolution with other lab staff and additional hospital departments. Individuals provide front line support for a large number of applications in a complex technological and clinical environment. Staff must provide support up to 16 hours per day, 7 days a week. Shift coverage on evenings and weekends is occasionally required.

Position performs varied professional services to ensure medical/surgical and diagnostic/ancillary services are accomplished in an efficient manner and that reimbursement is maximized.

EDUCATION:

Some college or associate degree; RHIT and/or CPC certification, coding experience

EXPERIENCE:

At least two years of progressively responsible experience in a fast-paced customer service environment including multi-line phone coverage and extensive computer skills. Experience with medical terminology & MS office also required.
