Job Summary

The Dining Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of dining services, ensuring high-quality meal service, managing staff, and maintaining a clean and safe environment. This role includes supervising food preparation and service, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations, and managing inventory and budgeting for food supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Staff Management:

  • Supervise and lead the dining services team (chefs, cooks, servers, etc.), providing guidance and training.
  • Schedule shifts, manage staffing levels, and ensure adequate coverage for meal services.

Food Preparation and Service:

  • Oversee the preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, ensuring they meet quality standards.
  • Ensure that meals are served in a timely, efficient, and aesthetically pleasing manner.
  • Monitor and maintain portion control and food quality.

Safety and Sanitation:

  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards.
  • Monitor kitchen cleanliness, including food storage areas, cooking equipment, and dining spaces.
  • Ensure safe handling and proper storage of food and ingredients.

Customer Service:

  • Address customer concerns, feedback, and complaints promptly and professionally.
  • Ensure excellent dining experiences for all guests or residents.

Compliance and Reporting:

  • Maintain records related to food service, such as menus, nutritional information, and inventory logs.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, health regulations, and local laws.

Team Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with other departments (e.g., maintenance, housekeeping, or dietary departments) to ensure smooth operations.
  • Communicate effectively with staff and management to resolve any issues or concerns.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (associate's or bachelor's degree in hospitality management or related field preferred).
  • Previous experience in food service, with some experience in a supervisory role.
  • Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including proficiency in scheduling and inventory management software.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods.
  • Lift and carry up to 25-50 lbs. when necessary.
