Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Student Intern.

In this role, the successful candidate The Section for Health Equity at NYU School of Medicine's Department of Population Health is looking to hire a per diem student research intern. This position involves working on the newly funded Childhood Adversity in Multiple Sclerosis (CARE.in.MS) study, an inclusive and community-engaged multi-center research study to mitigate the impact of adverse childhood environments, experiences, and exposures on MS outcomes.

Job Responsibilities:

    1. Recruitment - assist the national network in recruitment of individuals for formative qualitative and quantitative research
    2. Qualitative interviews - lead 3-5 focus groups via WebEx with predominately Black, Hispanic, and poverty-impacted individuals with MS to design and tailor our study protocols and materials to be appropriate for the communities they represent
    3. Qualitative analysis - lead the qualitative analysis of focus groups to inform the tailoring of study materials
    4. Quantitative analysis - assist in the administration, data cleaning, and descriptive analyses for pilot testing surveys
    5. Support translation of study materials as needed
    6. Collaboration - engage in weekly meetings and supervision; communicate findings to the academic team and Study Advisory Board
    7. Other research-related activities as needed (e.g., contributing to associated abstracts/manuscripts)

Minimum Qualifications:
To qualify you must

1. Applicants must be enrolled in a degree program.
2. Fluency in Spanish.
3. Experience conducting focus groups with minoritized populations.
4. Background and/or coursework in public health or related research.
5. Effective oral, written, interpersonal, and time management skills.
6. Ability to work within a team environment as well as independently.
7. Proficiency in using various Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Familiarity with Dedoose
2. Commitment to health disparities in Black, Hispanic, and poverty-impacted communities

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $16.00 - $16.50 Hourly. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
