Job Overview
This position is responsible for both the tactical and strategic management of software and technology-related hardware within the organization. This includes planning, recording and monitoring software licensing and/or hardware assets throughout their lifecycle (from acquisition through retirement), while ensuring compliance with company policies, accounting controls, vendor agreements, and industry regulations. This position will also support the establishment and oversight of policies and procedures essential for effectively managing the IT Asset Management (ITAM) program, and assist in the development and execution of strategies to optimize technology spend across the organization via implementing automation, data analysis, or partnering with other technology teams.
*** This position must be located in Overland Park, KS. This role is hybrid, and cannot be a remote role. Job Responsibilities:
- Track all in-scope IT assets in respective asset management tool/application, from acquisition through retirement/disposal, and ensure that all relevant lifecycle transactions are accurately captured in the tool.
- Manage IT assets to maximize value and minimize costs for software licensing, maintenance, hardware assets, and associated service offerings.
- Ensure compliance with assigned SOX controls through monitoring of processes and reporting, including submission of applicable documentation to satisfy compliance requirements.
- Develop and publish reporting and metrics to monitor program health, promote best practices, and support core operational activities.
- Process requests for new software or hardware via standard intake process(es), review for compliance with applicable standards and approval policies, and coordinate with downstream partners as appropriate to ensure requests are completed within agreed timelines.
- Support configuration, maintenance, and ongoing administration of the team's asset management tool/application to optimize functionality.
- Perform analysis and reconciliation support for audits, contract renewals, and other activities as required.
- Identify opportunities and champion efforts to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of ITAM processes and company resources.
- Lead strategic initiatives and complex program management activities for the team, including new systems evaluation, configuration and administration, analysis in support of major projects (eg., audits, enterprise license agreement renewals), new capabilities development, etc.
- Define, create, and implement new processes related to lifecycle management of software and hardware assets.
- Represent the program by educating the organization on established ITAM standards, policies and processes, as well as their value.
- Lead the mentoring of others.
- Also responsible for other Duties/Projects as assigned by business management as needed.
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree - Business, Supply Chain or Information Management (Required)
Work Experience:
- 6+ years experience in Asset Management (Preferred)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- IT Infrastructure & Software Licensing Expertise: Extensive knowledge in IT infrastructure and hardware asset management, including end user devices, virtualized and cloud environments, with a deep understanding of software licensing terms and conditions, complex metrics, and cost optimization strategies. Proficient in assessing software licensing impacts within all hardware configurations and managing the full software lifecycle from acquisition, to deployment and retirement. Maintaining software governance and remediating risk. Skilled in implementing Software Asset Management (SAM) best practices, to ensure compliance and maximize asset utilization with a strong focus on cost optimization. (Required)
- Oversee and manage relationships with Managed Service Providers (MSPs), ensuring service level agreements (SLAs) are met, performance is optimized, and strategic objectives align with business needs (Required)
- Financial & Procurement Knowledge: Understanding of IT financial management, cost forecasting, and license cost optimization. Proficient knowledge of Ariba Source to Pay and/or Oracle ERP systems. (Required)
- Familiarity with IT Service Management (ITSM) and ITIL and how SAM integrates with change and incident management. Familiarity with IT purchasing, contract negotiations, and vendor evaluation. (Required)
- Exceptional proficiency in both written and verbal communication, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and effectively to diverse audiences. Skilled in creating and delivering impactful presentations tailored to stakeholders at all levels. (Required)
- Process improvement and automation - Identifying inefficiencies in asset tracking and implementing process improvement and automation solutions. (Required)
- Project Management - Ability to manage SAM initiatives, software audits, and enterprise-wide licensing projects. (Required)
- Proven researching ability, and excellent analytical and problem solving skills. (Required)
- Extensive IT Asset Management and Discovery Tools experience (Flexera, ServiceNow, etc.) (Required)
- Ability to connect and influence business partners (peers + 2 levels) across functional organization. (Required)
- Experience implementing and administering ITAM systems as well as integrating with associated systems and processes. (Required)
- Proficiency in advanced Excel functions, including pivot tables and complex formulas such as VLOOKUP, INDEX, CONSOLIDATE, etc. (Required)

Base Pay Range: $77,700 - $140,200
Corporate Bonus Target: 15%
The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.
At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year.
