GENERAL PURPOSE Apply finish to manufactured product in a way that meets or exceed job related expectations for safety, quality, reliability, and environmental management. Problem solves with the assistance of other team members and seeks continuous improvement. Performs and completes all activities with a high regard for the safety of others and oneself. May learn additional functions by cross-training in other departments as needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Checks stain number, applies the proper stain, matching stain shade on the component to the sample board to obtain the desired stain shade, and wipes stained component down to achieve an even and uniform application. Sands and tacks each component after the first application of polyurethane. Ensures semi-daily cleaning of needle and tips of spray guns, repairs spray guns as needed, and changes polyurethane, thinner, or catalyst as needed. Ensures the proper application of polyurethane using spray guns to include determining proper polyurethane application rate for the individual to eliminate runs and to apply the required two coats of 3mm thick topcoat. Ensures the proper application of stains, toners, and dyes using spray guns. Follows proper recycling procedures for proper disposal of items. Follows Geiger's standard quality guidelines for all products. Follows the requirements of good documentation practices when handling quality records or controlled documents. Inspects personal work for quality, recognize flaws in finishing, and repair as necessary. Learns and utilizes the proper method for finishing each component and continue to follow this exact method of finishing for each corresponding component. Must be able to work in a team environment. Must be able to work overtime as needed for production needs. Must be safety oriented. Utilizes lean manufacturing principles as trained or directed. Performs additional responsibilities as requested to achieve business objectives. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience One of the following is required: (1) High school diploma or its equivalent (GED for example), (2) work experience which demonstrates performance competency Skills and Abilities Previous finishing experience is preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills. Must be attentive to details. Ability to match numbers from shop order print or on component part to stain number. Ability to carry out detailed written or oral instructions. Ability to solve smaller problems that may arise while finishing components. Ability to use a spray gun and an air palm sander. Ability to work in a regulated environment. Ability to read and understand safety data sheets when using chemicals. Must have ability to seal, topcoat, spray/shade product to specification and quality standards. Who We Hire?
