235 Williamson Street, Elizabeth, NJ 07202 Job Overview: The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups (including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients) with a concentrated focus on Critical Care and Infectious Disease. The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist will have a leading role in Antimicrobial Stewardship, working to optimize clinical outcomes of patients and promote appropriate antimicrobial utilization, while minimizing the unintended consequences of antimicrobial therapy and reducing costs. They are responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services within specialization in their assigned area, including but not limited to the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures. The job will involve independent decision-making. The Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director of Pharmacy and Assistant Director of Clinical Pharmacy Services in the coordination and supervision of all clinical pharmacy activities in addition to the quality improvement and quality assurance activities relating to the provision of pharmaceutical care. The Specialist plans, organizes, analyzes, and compiles the facility s medication utilization program(s) as required and assists in the implementation of cost-containment programs with continuous monitoring for compliance and accomplishments. The Specialist will furnish clinical information to physicians, pharmacy personnel, healthcare practitioners, and patients and will play an integral role in staff education and competency requirements for the department.
