Job Summary

To serve as an undergraduate advisor for all teacher education majors, including bilingual/bicultural majors and minors. Advisement requires being aware of and thoroughly understanding University and School policies and procedures and communicating appropriate information to students, faculty, professional staff, and administrators. Must be able to provide guidance to and oversight of student accountability. Must effectively communicate the progress of student advisement and related procedures and policies to the school director.

Salary Rate / Pay Rate

$52,000 - $54,000


Required Qualifications

1. Bachelor's Degree
2. Previous advising or student affairs experience.
3. Computer skills involve working with PC software and an understanding of student information systems.
4. Ability to effectively communicate with faculty, staff, other department heads, students, employees in other departments, parents, and alumni in a professional manner.
5. Possess the ability to exchange or/deliver information to supervisors and/or managers in other departments, deans, public/citizens, state or federal elected officials, faculty and /or staff from other universities, and professional/business community


Preferred Qualifications

1. Able to demonstrate proficiency in oral and written fluency in Spanish with skills to advise students in teacher education with a bilingual/bicultural focus
2. Master's Degree
3. Interest in and knowledge of Teacher Education.
4. Strong communication, organizational, and troubleshooting skills.


Work Hours

Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM, with occasional evening or weekend work.


Functional Expectations

Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Remain at a workstation for extended periods
2. Move about in various locations on and off campus as needed to complete day-to-day work
3. Effectively communicate on a daily basis
