Job Summary

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for innovation in campus dining? Chartwells Higher Education is looking for a Director of Retail Dining Services for the University of Houston (UH)-one of our premier showcase accounts known for setting the standard in campus dining excellence.

This is a unique opportunity to oversee a diverse portfolio of national and proprietary dining concepts, shaping the food experience for UH's vibrant student body while driving operational and financial success.

What You'll Do:
Lead & Innovate: Oversee multiple high-profile retail dining locations, ensuring seamless operations and exceptional service.
Inspire & Develop: Manage and mentor a diverse team of managers, supervisors, and frontline staff, fostering a culture of excellence.
Drive Satisfaction: Elevate the student experience by ensuring top-tier food quality, presentation, and customer service.
Own the Numbers: Oversee financial performance, manage budgets, and develop revenue-driven strategies.
Ensure Excellence: Maintain strict adherence to health, safety, and quality standards, keeping our dining environments safe and welcoming.
Engage & Market: Implement strategic marketing initiatives to drive traffic, enhance student engagement, and grow sales.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree plus four years of directly related experience preferred
  • Proven experience in multi-unit management, preferably in a university or high-volume retail setting
  • Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience is desirable
  • Strong supervisory, leadership, management and coaching skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to communicate on various levels to include management, client, customer and associate levels
  • Excellent financial, budgetary, accounting and computational skills
  • Proficient computer skills to include; various computer programs, Microsoft Office programs, e-mail and the Internet
  • Passion for innovation, customer service, and team development
  • ServSafe Certified
