THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Carpenter 1, you will perform a full range of journeyman level carpentry duties to include estimating time, material requirements, and supplies. You will be responsible for planning work in accordance with sketches and blueprints, selecting lumber and materials, and accurately measuring and cutting material to the proper dimensions. Duties also entail performing alterations, repairs, and maintenance for a variety of structures, inclusive of facilitating skilled bench work such as operating power saws, jointers, wood lathes, planers, routers, and other related equipment. In addition to carpentry work, this position is also responsible for snow and ice removal efforts as necessary. This position is considered essential, therefore you may be required to report to work during emergencies and office closings. Within this role, it is imperative to consistently adhere to established guidelines and operating procedures to ensure safety.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Successful completion of the Building Trades Trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience in the construction, installation, repair, restoration, or maintenance of structures and articles made from wood, composite, and wood substitute materials; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess an active motor vehicle license.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
