Your Role:

Reporting to the Director of Farm Network Expansion Strategy, the Pullet Farmer Recruiting Manager is a key player in building the future of Vital Farms. You'll be responsible for recruiting dedicated and passionate new farmers to retrofit their existing poultry barns for state-of-the-art pullet production. These pullets will grow into the laying hens that form the backbone of our network of caring family farms. When you connect with someone who's enthusiastic about sustainable agriculture and animal welfare, you'll introduce them to the Vital Farms way-ensuring they have everything they need to be successful from day one. Additionally, you'll work closely with our construction partners to oversee barn retrofits that meet our rigorous standards for quality and ethics.

What You'll Do:

  • Build a Pullet Farmer Pipeline:

    • Connect Locally: Seek out potential pullet farmers within 100 miles of our Missouri and Arkansas locations through community meetings, local/regional events, and strategic partnerships with marketing and financial institutions.
    • Network & Nurture: Collaborate with our Lead Generation Specialist to track and manage a robust pipeline of qualified leads.

  • Engage & Onboard Farmers:

    • Host Community Meetings: Organize and lead sessions with prospective farmers to walk them through our end-to-end recruiting and onboarding process.
    • Property Assessments: Visit potential farmers' properties to ensure their land meets our internal standards for retrofitting barns into pullet production facilities.
    • Support Through Sales Cycle: Guide farmers from the initial introduction right through to contract signing, ensuring they understand how producing quality pullets today supports the future of our laying hen network.

  • Coordinate Barn Retrofitting:

    • Collaborate on Construction: Work hand-in-hand with our trusted construction partners to schedule, manage, and oversee the barn retrofitting process.
    • Maintain Quality: Ensure that every retrofit project is completed on time, within budget, and in strict adherence to our high standards for animal welfare and sustainable production.
    • Facilitate Communication: Act as the primary liaison between recruited farmers and construction teams, addressing challenges and ensuring seamless project execution.

  • Facilitate Financial & Administrative Processes:

    • Assist with Financing: Support farmers through the loan application process, securing grants, and navigating other financial mechanisms necessary to fund their retrofit projects.
    • Documentation & Follow-Up: Collaborate with the Lead Generation Specialist to ensure that all paperwork is completed and stored properly, maintaining an accurate system of record.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement:

    • Feedback Loop: Keep the farmer's experience front and center by relaying process improvements and opportunities for growth to the Director of Farm Network Expansion Strategy.
