Our IT team is hiring a Help Desk Technician to provide desktop support services to end users at our corporate headquarters in Reston, VA. The ideal candidate will be performing varying degrees of problem determination, root cause analysis, and resolution of desktop hardware and software problems. The selected individual will be responsible for making effective use of available technical resources and providing helpdesk/desktop support to our employees both on-site and remotely.

Responsibilities:



  • Perform onsite or remote analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of complex desktop problems for end users, and recommend and implement corrective solutions


  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot end-user workstations and related hardware and software


  • Assess the need for and implement performance upgrades to end user workstations, including the installation of these upgrades (for example memory and graphics cards)


  • Receive and respond to incoming calls and/or e-mails regarding desktop problems


  • Assist in preparing, maintaining, and upholding procedures for logging, reporting, and statistically monitoring desktop operations


  • Accurately document instances of desktop equipment or component failure, repair, installation, and removal


  • Unlock user accounts


  • Escalate issues to Tier II support as necessary


  • Interface with third-party support and equipment vendors as needed


Required Qualifications:



  • At least 1 year of IT Desktop Support experience


  • Operating system build and troubleshooting experience


  • Linux system build and troubleshooting experience


  • Problem solving and time management capabilities


  • Experience working in an Active Directory environment


  • Excellent customer relations and customer support skills


  • Experience working in a team-oriented, global, collaborative environment


  • US Citizenship required; successful candidates will be subject to a security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information


Desired Qualifications:



  • Associate's degree in Information Technology, or related field


  • Linux system build and troubleshooting experience


  • Experience with desktop virtualization (e.g. VMWare)


  • Experience or familiarity with DoD cybersecurity standards
