Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities

What We're Looking For:

If you are looking for a collaborative work environment where you'll have the opportunity to be part of a team on the forefront of one of the most advanced satellite constellations in the world, then you will be excited about joining Iridium for a Space Development Agency (SDA) project. Iridium is seeking an experienced, self-motivated, and disciplined Earned Value Management (EVM) Subject Matter Expert (SME) with Deltek Cobra experience to drive EVM operations and manage program cost and schedule inputs within the EVM Cost Tool. This opportunity collaborates directly with the Portfolio and Program Management Leadership and interfaces with multiple Program Managers (PM) to facilitate effective and efficient cost and schedule data integration, validation, and analytics. You will thrive in this role if you consistently deliver high quality work, anticipate program needs, and independently drive projects to completion.

What You'll Do:

    Establish and maintain the program's EVM system, ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory requirements
  • Develop, maintain, and analyze performance measurement baselines (PMB) using Deltek Cobra to track cost, schedule, and technical progress
  • Oversee monthly EVM reporting and variance analysis to ensure accurate representation of program performance
  • Collaborate with Control Account Managers (CAM) and PMs to establish budget and update forecast targets
  • Lead the process of importing schedule and resource data into the cost tool
  • Leverage Deltek Cobra to integrate and validate actual cost data from various sources, ensuring consistency and accuracy in financial tracking
  • Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure timely data entry and reconciliation
  • Maintain cost integrity by ensuring proper alignment of actuals with budgeted and forecasted costs
  • Work independently to uncover flaws, problems, risks in data or projects by asking strategic questions
  • Be responsible for conducting data quality, validation, and DCMA EV Compliance Metric (DECM) checks
  • Directly support variance analysis reporting and improve upon variance analysis process
  • Establish appropriate change management and control principles
  • Mentor and train team members on the operations and tools of EVM


Experience & Education Requirements / EEO

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's degree in a business or technical major or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, preferably within the Aerospace or Telecommunications fields
  • Expertise using Deltek Cobra, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Project, among other EV tools
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey products, deliverables, analyses, and/or issues clearly and confidently, and recognize and adapt to different communication techniques
  • Can easily build meaningful relationships with others, including senior leadership outside of your own department, and is comfortable providing constructive feedback to your team members and management
  • Be able to analyze a situation or problem, generate effective solutions, and see those solutions through to completion
  • Must possess the creativity and resourcefulness needed to make reliable decisions and determine methods on new assignments
  • Can thrive in a dynamic environment by handling multiple tasks and managing shifting priorities
  • Be proactive in sharing knowledge you've learned with others

  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Certification
  • Earned Value Management Institute (EVMI) Certification

Work Environment:

This position primarily works in the company office or in a home office. The position is largely sedentary with the majority of the position sitting in a chair and working with a computer. The role uses basic office equipment including a phone, video, computer, keyboard, mouse, and printer.
