V2X is growing! V2X is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to join our team!

The Production Support Engineer will join our Hardware Engineering team in Indianapolis, IN.

Typical Duties:

The Manufacturing Engineer will support metal fabrication and mechanical assembly operations by generating work instructions and resolving production issues through hands-on support. The engineer will assist in process development and may design work-stations/cells; design fixturing, jigs, gages, and tooling. Additionally, this professional will also support the launch of production programs and may advise design engineers on Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and other production-related matters. Work environment will be a hybrid between office environment and industrial manufacturing floor.

An example of tasking would be as follows:

Develop production routings for component-level fabrication or generate work instructions for assembly operations. This engineer may also need to determine safe mounting procedures to mate two major subsystems or revise assembly work instructions based on obstacles encountered during assembly operations. Develop or reorganize assembly workstations based on scale of demand. Furthermore, the manufacturing engineer will design and develop Tooling, Fixturing, and support structures as needed to facilitate assembly operations and support the assembly and quality teams when deviations or faults are discovered. Manufacturing engineers should also have surface-level familiarity with Continuous Improvement / Lean manufacturing principles.

Required Skills:



  • 2-3 years' experience in an industrial metal fabrication environment-including machining of parts from billet, and cutting and forming of sheet metal parts using lasers, press brakes, and stamping presses-and mechanical assembly operations with basic familiarity with metals' material properties
  • Experience in technical writing and development of detailed work instructions for assembly and rework operations.
  • Experience using 3D CAD programs (PTC Creo preferred) to create production drawings from model.
  • Familiarity with and ASME Y14-series standards (including Y14.5 GD&T) and experience reading and interpreting assembly drawings.
  • Training or Education in the Design of Tooling, Fixturing, Jigs, and support structures for assembly operations
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and math skills (linear algebra, geometry, trigonometry)
  • Must be a US Citizen with ability to pass a criminal background check (active possession or eligibility to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance preferred)


Desired Experience & Skills:



  • 2-3 years of experience as an engineer in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing environment (experience in AS9100 aerospace manufacturing a plus)
  • Experience using ERP platforms to generate production routings (SAP S/4HANA preferred)
  • Familiarity with ASME Y14.43 (Gage Tolerancing)
  • Experience using PDM suites (Windchill preferred) to manage production process documents
  • Familiarity with National Industry Standards such as ASME, ASTM, SAE standards, and MIL-STDs in regard to fabrication, assembly, and testing procedures and requirements (Ability to Reference, Interpret, and integrate into detailed work instructions)
  • Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic systems preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.


Education Requirements:



  • Bachelors Degree (preferred concentrations in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering/Technology)
