Overview
The Department of Buildings & General Services (BGS) is looking to hire college students to assist the Design & Construction Division with delivering construction projects across a variety of disciplines for State buildings. Duties may include design, review, and drafting of MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, & Plumbing) systems, construction project management, and construction oversight for State buildings projects. In addition to design/review/drafting, the position will also be required to perform field work to confirm measurements, troubleshoot existing systems, provide on-site review of construction in process, and assist in the preparation of contract documents. A qualified individual will have completed at least one year worth of academic coursework within an ABET accredited engineering or construction management program. Temporary work is typically for variable hours and is not expected to be full-time. The State does not guarantee 40 hours of work per week. Please note that multiple positions in the same work location may be filled from this job posting. Environmental Factors
Work is generally performed in a standard office and field setting. A private means of transportation must be available. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered during negotiations and the ability to persuade others is required. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be anticipated. Minimum Qualifications
Actively pursuing an associate or bachelor's degree in a building construction field such as engineering, architecture, interior design, or construction management. Preferred Qualifications
