The Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Services is currently recruiting qualified applicants for the position of Head Lifeguards - Full Time at the Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, which is scheduled to open in 2025. The ideal candidate will have experience in lifeguarding, a solid understanding of pool chemistry, and expertise in pump room operations. Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills are imperative, along with a commitment to promoting water safety and ensuring enjoyable aquatic experiences. The Recreation Center will boast a competition pool, a leisure pool, a children's play area, a hot tub, and an outdoor splash pad.

We are currently hiring for the following location(s):
* Ashburn Recreation and Community Center, Ashburn, VA

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of Lifeguard personnel, collaborate with the Aquatics Supervisor, and guide part-time staff in their daily responsibilities.
* Maintain thorough records of certifications for aquatics personnel and the requisite documentation for the aquatic facility. This involves executing clerical functions, utilizing scheduling software, and facilitating the orientation process for newly hired staff in the aquatics team.
* Helps distressed individuals by utilizing appropriate rescue techniques and equipment; alerts emergency medical personnel in cases of significant injury; offers emergency care and treatment as necessary.
* Offers customer service, modifies the pool configuration for activities and events, and provides support for special events.
* Performs daily custodial and maintenance duties to ensure a safe, clean aquatic facility.
* Ensure compliance with pool rules and regulations by overseeing the use of aquatic facilities and equipment, thereby safeguarding the well-being of visitors and participants and upholding relevant safety policies and practices.
* It is possible that other essential duties related to the specific role and department may be performed as required.

*The work schedule is subject to variation based on operational hours and will encompass weekdays, evenings, and weekends. *The hiring salary is commensurate with experience as listed on the application.

High School diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of direct aquatics experience including aquatics programming and pool facility management, working with the public, groups, and organizations.

Preferred Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Recreation or Leisure Services or a related field.
* Prefer 2-year supervisory experience.
* Lifeguarding Instructor, AED, and Supplemental Oxygen preferred.
* Water Safety Instructor
* Certified Pool Operator /Certified PTHA CPO/AFO

Must undergo criminal, credit, DMV, and reference checks. Red Cross or equivalent Lifeguard Certification. First Aid Certification. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification at time of hire. Loudoun County approved Pool Operator Certification.
