Description
As a Program Instructor in our Youth & Therapeutic program area, you'll get the opportunity to help lead a variety of fun and exciting activities for our community. Whether it's a thrilling day trip, a hands-on class, or a special event, you'll help provide an engaging, supportive, and safe environment for participants of all ages and abilities. You will perform a variety of duties associated with instructing both youth and therapeutic/adaptive recreation programs. Employees at this level provide specialized instruction and program supervision which may include the coordination of schedules and activities in the assigned area. ANTICIPATED WORK SCHEDULE:

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of: To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate exceptional leadership and communication skills and must possess knowledge of the principles, practices, trends and methods of recreational operations and programming in a community setting. Knowledge of guidelines and regulations related to Department, Town, County, State, and Federal policies and procedures also required. Skills in: Initiative and decision-making; verbal and written communication; supervision, leadership, and interpersonal relationships; basic financial methods of recreational programming; outstanding customer service to a diverse population; administrative functions; time management, meeting deadlines, responding to internal and external requests in a timely manner; the use of standard office equipment, computers, and various software programs; positive and professional working relationships with all Town staff and the community; conflict resolution; handling controversial issues; comprehending instruction, correspondence, and policies and procedures; problem solving; remaining composed in emergency situations and working effectively under stressful circumstances; performing CPR, First Aid, and AED to level of certification. Environmental Factors: This position involves both indoor and outdoor work in various weather conditions. Activities may occur on uneven surfaces, such as gravel, grass, or snow. Local travel is required as needed for activities. Physical Factors: This role requires frequent movement, including frequent walking, sitting, and standing, as well as occasional running or jogging. This position involves leading recreational activities which require regular bending, kneeling, squatting, and stooping. Lifting to 30 pounds alone and over 30 pounds with assistance may be occasionally required. This position will occasionally involve pushing, pulling and repetitive motion.
