The Defense Systems Group (DSG) provides analysis-based decision support to senior leaders on space architectures, policy and strategy, developmental planning, system of systems engineering, and threat reduction to help shape future space missions across the national security space enterprise. DSG is unique at Aerospace as it not only directly supports major customers, including Air Force Space Command, U.S. Strategic Command, Air Force Materiel Command, and senior leadership at the Pentagon, but also provides a broad range of services and support across the national space enterprise, maintaining vertical responsibilities with customers but also horizontal, matrixed responsibilities across the corporation.

We are looking for a Senior Systems Test and Evaluation Engineer (Senior Project Engineer - Systems Test Engineering) in the Special Programs Division that will support the integration of developmental test and evaluation (DT&E) across multiple space programs. The Aerospace Special Programs Division directly supports the Space Domain Awareness and Combat Power Directorate at the Space Systems Command that drives advanced warfighting capabilities in, from, to and through space for the joint fight. As the Senior Systems Test and Evaluation Engineer you will directly support the Government Test Lead responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and analysis of DT&E for orbital warfare systems to ensure effective fielding of space capabilities.

Work Model

This is a full-time position based in El Segundo, California or Colorado Springs, Colorado, which requires 100% onsite work.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Provide systems engineering expertise to support integrated test and evaluation for orbital warfare systems to include multi-system test strategy development, test plan review, test execution oversight, and test data analysis
  • Work closely with STARCOM test and evaluation squadrons and participate as a member of the Orbital Warfare Integrated Test Force
  • Support space acquisition program offices through DT&E
  • Support integration of space systems to deliver combat-credible warfighting capabilities
  • Facilitate communication and collaborate between Government, SETA, and contractor teams across multiple program offices and test organizations
  • Routinely present assessments of test artifacts to the Government Test Lead
  • Identify risk areas and mitigation efforts to meet mission objectives

What You Need to be Successful - Senior Project Engineer, Systems Test Engineering

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical subject area
  • 12 or more years of experience in relevant engineering/technical/operational aspects of National Security Space systems
  • Experience in space system test and/or integration
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a Program Office environment with a mix of government, FFRDC, and SETA personnel
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Willing to travel domestically approximately 10% (if based in El Segundo, more travel may be required to support activities in the Colorado Springs area)
  • Current TS/SCI security clearance with the ability to obtain additional clearances, which are issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain security clearance.

  • Advanced degree in technical discipline (engineering, science or math)
  • Experience in Government Developmental Test and Evaluation (DT&E) of space programs
  • Knowledgeable of Space Control programs and/or Orbital Warfare concept of operations
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment, foster effective relationships, and be responsive to management/customer requests
  • Proven experience with the development, integration, or operation of DoD and/or IC space and/or ground systems
  • Experience leveraging the breadth and depth of Aerospace ETG technical capabilities and resources
  • Current SAP/SAR access

Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge and skills.
