Overview and Responsibilities

Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Patient Account Specialist to join the Rotech team. In this position you will be responsible for auditing incoming patient records entered into e-Intake for accuracy and completeness for revenue recognition and collection. Manages patient accounts for documentation needs throughout life of account. Serves the customers of the Support Center (patients, referral sources and employees) by performing tasks related to patient care and third party reimbursement.

Pay starting at $15 with potential to earn more depending on related experience

  • HYBRID SCHEDULE (3 days WFH, 2 days in-office) with completion of IN OFFICE TRAINING and are meeting expectations with management approval.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Audits file and proof of delivery documents to confirm products and services were provided as ordered and all data entered in e-Intake is accurate. Resolves errors by communicating and resolving with patients, referral sources and employees
  • Builds relationships with locations, patients and referral sources
  • Communicates any form errors to the store or makes necessary corrections in IMBS and e-Intake, based on the information written on the form
  • Develops and maintains a working knowledge of current Medicare, Medicaid, insurance regulations and FDA/DOT and JCAHO guidelines
  • Following successful QA, confirms charges in e-Intake for billing to 3rd party entities and/or patient
  • Participates in special project activities and support teams as requested
  • Proactively obtains re-certifications, re-authorizations, renewal orders as required
  • Provides education to referral sources, patients and employees on qualifications for service and 3rd party billing
  • Provides product/service information by answering questions offering assistance
  • Provides timely resolution for accounts that are not in a payable status; e.g. held item, no charge, hold, audit review, etc.
  • Receives medical record documentation and provides thorough review and Quality Assurance for physician's order, testing, progress notes, medical necessity and other documentation requirements for payors and regulatory bodies
  • Reviews future services and tasks needed for account by reviewing the NATs (Needs Attention Tasks) in e-Intake
  • Verifies the accuracy of the information in IMBS and e-Intake compared to information on the required forms
  • Works extensively with e-Intake proprietary system; maintains accuracy and quality control throughout patient contact and data input
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Employment is contingent on

  • Background investigation (company-wide)
  • Drug screen (when applicable for the position)
  • Valid driver's license in state of residence with a clean driving record (when applicable for the position)

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One to three years of related prior work experience in a team-oriented environment
  • Experience in medical field and administrative record management
  • Strong customer service background

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Effectively communicate in English; both oral and written, with physicians, location employees and patients to ensure questions and concerns are processed in a timely manner
  • Flexible approach and the ability to solve practical problems
  • Interpret a variety of instructions in a variety of communication mediums
  • Knowledge of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) or Home Medical Equipment (HME)
  • Knowledge of insurance policies and requirements
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical billing practices and billing reimbursement
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette
  • Maintain confidentiality and practice discretion and caution when handling sensitive information
  • Multi-task along with attention to detail
  • Must be able to accurately perform simple mathematical calculations using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division
  • Self-motivation, organized, time-management and deductive problem solving skills
  • Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gains clarification and responds well to questions
  • Strong sense of urgency and responsiveness to customers
  • Work and think independently and as part of a team
  • Write clearly and informatively; presents numerical data effectively; able to read and interpret written information

Physical Demands

  • Lift and carry up to 10 pounds
  • Requires close vision to small print on computer and or paperwork; utilize computer for extensive hours and regularly review documents
  • Requires sitting, walking, standing, talking or listening; sit for extensive hours, walk and stand on a regular basis and speak on telephone for extensive hours
