Overview

The Calibration Technician performs in-house calibrations and repairs of handheld pipettes and various laboratory equipment. Normally receives general instructions on routine work, detailed instructions on new assignments.

Responsibility

  1. Uses internal policies and procedures to perform testing and calibration on a wide range of basic laboratory equipment in accordance with all regulatory requirements. This includes laboratory pipettes, balances, robots, etc.
  2. Responsible for the calibration of environmental monitoring systems throughout the laboratory.
  3. Responsible for calibration of all handheld pipettes throughout the laboratory.
  4. Responsible for calibration of balances and other laboratory measuring equipment.
  5. Completes training for all applicable instruments and calibration processes.

Qualifications

  1. Meets one of the following education and experience requirements:

    1. HS Degree and minimum or 1 year of relevant experience in an engineering or laboratory testing field or
    2. AS Degree in Engineering, Biology, Computer Science, or related field.

  2. Demonstrates ability to work in team-oriented environment while being able to finish assignments independently.
  3. Basic understanding of the quality systems and demonstrates compliance with regulatory (FDA, ISO, CAP/CLIA) requirements for the work performed and regulatory guidelines.


Physical Requirements

Lifting Requirements - medium work or exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, 20 pounds of force frequently, and 10 pounds of force consistently. Physical Requirements - stationary positioning, moving, operating, ascending/descending, communicating, observing, reaching, and repetitive motion. Use of equipment and tools necessary to perform essential job functions. Hazards and Atmospheric Conditions - exposure to fumes, dust, extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid, noise, vibration, mists or gases, mechanical hazards, chemical hazards, electrical hazards, and radiant energy hazards. OSHA Category I - duties performed routinely requires exposure to blood, body fluid, and tissue.
