Your role. Your work will include, but not be limited to: * Manage qualified retirement plan design and compliance as well as executive compensation engagements * Develop innovative and strategic ideas to identify and solve prospects' and clients' benefits needs and issues * Assume a mentorship role on the team and be a key to future leadership by building strong client relationships and promoting all areas of employee benefits consulting and compliance * Build and develop new client business and cultivate new business within the existing client base The qualifications. * Bachelor's degree required * Juris doctor or advanced degree in tax or human resources preferred * 7+ years of relevant experience required, including experience with accounting, consulting or law firms serving the middle market, or in-house benefits and/or compensation experience * Solid working knowledge and technical expertise in the areas of plan design of qualified and nonqualified plans. Demonstrated expertise in some or all of Code Sections 409A, 3121(v), 457, 280G, 162(m), 4960, 401(a), 401(k), and 403(b) required * Desire to build and cultivate new client business. Experience with business development preferred * Qualified individuals will ideally reside in or near the Metro Detroit or be willing to relocate to the area for this opportunity; Limited travel throughout our geographic footprint.
This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week. Eligibility and contribution requirements for some of these benefits vary based on the number of hours staff work per week. Highlights include health, dental, vision, disability and life insurance. These standard offerings are effective on the first of the month following your start date. In addition to this, eligible staff are able to take advantage of our Flexible Time Off and various pre-determined holidays as well as a 401(k) plan, flexible benefits plans, business-related travel expense, lodging and meal reimbursement for business-related use. A Pension plan is also available for eligible administrative and paraprofessional staff. A discretionary bonus plan is available for eligible staff. Plante Moran also offers Interns and Contractors the option to elect health insurance under our contingent staff medical plan as of the 1st of the month following 60 days of employment in addition to limited paid time sick time. Seasonal staff are not eligible for benefits.
Compensation is commensurate with technical skills and experience is provided in accordance with applicable state requirement.
