Job Summary : To assist with the daily business operations of the Clinical Areas at Hendricks Regional Health, to foster positive relationships with physicians, employees and patients, to follow professional and clinical standards to promote safe, ethical and high quality patient care.Job Description Essential Responsibilities: 1. Fiscal Responsibility a. Manages time productively in the completion of duties relating to operations, staff, productivity, efficiency, department staffing, and unexpected events. b. Coordinates staff activities/assignments in collaboration with the director to develop and flex schedules based on unit needs; provides unit call as directed; monitors position control, and coordinates transfers. c. Utilizes automated time and attendance system to verify employee hours; monitors overtime/discrepancies; prepares variance justification; approves unscheduled overtime, and arranges coverage for call-ins or other unscheduled absences as needed. d. Provides input for budget preparation; monitors to decrease budget variances; confers with the director on merit increases; monitors judicious use of supplies and approves purchase requisitions within scope of responsibility. 2. Quality a. Covers unit based responsibilities for Director in his/her absence and participates in the interviewing/hiring process as directed. b. Assists in the completion of performance evaluations; provides feedback and counseling related to performance/attendance; and maintains documentation of disciplinary actions. c. Communicates concisely and clearly with physicians, ancillary services, directors, and staff. d. Participates in housewide CQI teams, task forces and project groups to assure unit compliance to regulatory/professional standards and provide resource to staff. e. Directs chart review related to unit based projects and collects data for monthly review/reporting and assists in updates to automated systems and data collection. 3. Patient Satisfaction a. Promotes and practices rounding, timely response, service recovery and staff recognition to increase consumer assessment of service. b. Promotes and practices relationship based care including patient and their family/healthcare representative and anyone they identify. c. Ensures patient rights are explained and respected by all they come in contact with during their visit/stay. d. Participates in hospital sponsored and external events to raise healthcare awareness and/or provide education or support to the community. 4. Patient Safety a. Maintains communications system for reporting actual or potential problems to Director; completes objective assessment of cause and scope of problems in conjunction with Director. b. Develops, monitors, and revises policies and procedures for evidence base practice, ensures accurate patient handoff. c. Monitors staff performance for appropriate application of patient safety devices/ professional practice, and educates as necessary. 5. Professional Growth a. Takes self-directed approach to learning and follows up on recognized needs and corrective action plans; provides and accepts information, feedback and suggestions from others in a positive manner to improve practice; Active on HRH council. b. Participates in professional organizations related to specialty area and networks with peers at educational opportunities. c. Encourages staff development, e.g. professional organizations, certifications, pursuit of higher education and facilitates staff attendance at mandatory and continuing education/in-services. d. Participates in orientation of staff, educational needs assessments, mentoring, completion of unit competencies and staff education files. 6. Customer Service a. Meets Hospital identified customer service standards; addresses ethical issues, and promotes commitment to co-workers. b. Exemplifies excellent guest relations to patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers, government entities and the public; is courteous and shows compassion and respect; conforms to and holds co-workers accountable to the Service Excellence standards. c. Demonstrates excellent communication and interactions to communicate shared vision and promote interdepartmental relationships. Education and Experience Required: 1. Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree is required. Preference may be given to Master of Science in Nursing/Nursing Specialty Degree prepared candidates. 2. Minimum of 2 years experience in leadership roles necessary. Preference may be given to candidates with previous management experience. Mandatory Licensure/Certifications: 1. Currently licensed by the Indiana State Board of Nurses' Registration and Nursing Education as an active Registered Nurse. 2. Certification in area of expertise within 2 years or as required by your discipline. Work Shift : 1st Shift (United States of America)Scheduled Weekly Hours : 40 |
