Overview

General Dynamics Electric Boat, the nation's premier designer and builder of nuclear submarines, is seeking a Manufacturing Representative to support Engineering with Operations Construction Readiness at our Groton, CT. location.

This team of highly skilled and dedicated employees will assist Operations Trades and Supervisors as they perform construction activities with respect to hull coatings, and assist in maintaining VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA class construction schedules by ensuring construction readiness for the painter and carpenter departments. Job Description:

Manufacturing Representatives coordinate cross-functional activities across the spectrum of construction stakeholders to include:

    Engineering (for construction deliverables, design and production documents and fixtures)
  • Operations - Deck plate support for hull coating installation activities
  • Risk Mitigation
  • Design/Build/Sustain
  • Materials Management/Purchasing
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Program Office/Ships Management interface

Key aspects to be considered by the Manufacturing Representatives include safety, risk mitigation, schedule impacts, test, and quality. Manufacturing Representatives will:

  • Work within teams to prepare Groton Operations to start construction activities in accordance with ARTEMIS schedules.
  • Support major ship modules and / or hulls as defined by supervision.
  • Interface with VIRGINIA and COLUMBIA teams, program management, and functional management on a continuous basis to ensure all issues are identified and resolved by engaging proper stakeholders.
  • Interface and effectively communicate with customer representatives.
  • Support construction readiness activities to enable Groton Operations to meet schedule performance metrics.
  • Support construction readiness meetings for assigned areas, and ensure Engineering actions support schedule requirements.
  • Possess knowledge or demonstrate capability to learn all aspects of Hull treatment installation activities.
  • Provide deck plate support for shipyard installation and repairs o SHT and related systems.

This position is located at the Groton facility in Groton, CT.



Qualifications

Required:

  • Associates degree or higher, or a minimum of 2 years experience in related field
  • Must have good computer skills and be proficient in MS Word, Excel & Power Point
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance from the Department of Defense

Preferred:

  • Technical degree in an engineering, manufacturing, drafting or design field or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to support multi-discipline cross-functional teams but will consider candidates with leadership potential
