World-changing technologies. Life-changing careers. Learn more about Sandia at: http://www.sandia.gov *These benefits vary by job classification. What Your Job Will Be Like: We are seeking a R&D S&E, Systems Engineering System Safety Engineer. The System Safety Engineering (SSE) applies engineering and management principles, criteria, and techniques to achieve acceptable mishap risk within the constraints of operational effectiveness, time, and cost throughout all phases of the system life cycle. The application of system safety engineering results in the definition of system safety requirements throughout the life cycle for any system. When properly applied, these requirements enable the identification and management of hazards and their associated risks during system developmental and sustaining engineering activities. The application includes utilizing the MIL-STD-882E order of precedence to meet safety requirements, adequately characterizing the safety significance, and integrating precepts early in the program help establish and engrain safety requirements and criteria throughout the life cycle. The following describe the top-level functions of the SSE:

About Our Team: The Military Systems Engineering department applies interdisciplinary systems engineering principles and approaches to transform a set of customer needs into a solution that meets those needs with verifiable, traceable, and testable requirements. The team accomplishes this by overseeing the engineering design, development, and demonstration of complex military systems. Methods used are Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), Concept of Operations Development, Requirements Analysis and Definition, System Design Descriptions, Trade Studies, Design Analysis, Interface Design & Assessment, Integrated System Test Planning, System Verification & Validation, and Configuration Management. Posting Duration: This posting will be open for application submissions for a minimum of seven (7) calendar days, including the 'posting date'. Sandia reserves the right to extend the posting date at any time.
