Job Description

Danfoss Power Solutions is a world-class provider of mobile and industrial hydraulic components and systems. We are looking for our next Senior Director to support activities at our Ames, Iowa campus.

You will play an integral role in shaping and guiding the future growth ofthe Ames campus and its 1,200 employees. You will direct and coordinate the overall activities of the site, to drive processes that will maximize safety, quality, delivery and productivity. You will have full responsibility to manage the operation to meet and exceed customer needs; be accountable for all costs related to operations (variable costs, fixed production costs and capital expenditures) supporting business objectives and profitable growth; ensure policies and procedures are followed, such as, but not limited to IATF, ISO 9001 and internal practices including Danfoss Business Systems; and engaging the workforce in living the Danfoss values.



Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following.




  • Managing a complex site hosting multiple business units
  • Overseeing daily production to meet customer needs while navigating constraints in labor, suppliers and manufacturing capacity
  • Driving operational excellence based on your experience of utilizing the latest manufacturing technology and lean tools to drive productivity
  • Developing the organizational competencies needed to support continued growth
  • Acting as change agent with strong credibility and influence in the organization
  • Driving a best-in-class Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) culture and leading with safety as our #1 focus
  • Applying your deep supply chain experience to work across functions and sites to meet customer needs
  • Taking overall responsibility for internal and external quality of products produced
  • Developing community relationships with local universities, municipal and non-governmental organizations
  • Ensuring workforce development plans are in place to meet long-term production requirements
  • Participating on both the Ames Leadership Team and the Medium Power BU Leadership Team
  • Working effectively with cross-functional teams and promoting cooperation while making tough decisions when needed

Basic Qualifications:




  • Bachelor'sdegree
  • 8+ years of world class manufacturing experience
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Ambitious and passionate to achieve results and make bold decisions
  • Good interpersonal communication and influencing skills
  • Proponent of diversity, equity and inclusion
  • Fluent English language skills



Preferred Qualifications:




  • Master's degree in engineering or business, or comparable experience
  • Experience with tier 1 automotive supplier or large industrial companies
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or other quality management certifications
  • Lean manufacturing or other experience driving best practices in complex manufacturing environments
  • 5+ years of leadership experience
