Loudoun County Department of Family Services seeks a dedicated and experienced professional for a Finance Assistant position. The successful candidate will join the Department of Family Services which envisions better health, safety, and well-being for all. Job Summary

The Finance Operations Team is responsible for the set-up and maintenance of all Department suppliers, processing supplier payments through various systems, and managing all accounts payable transactions.

As a member of the Finance Operations team, the Finance Assistant position supports and trains all units in DFS on the client management system. The successful candidate will be responsible for making timely and accurate payments to suppliers from various State, Federal and County funded sources in support of the most vulnerable of our community.

The required duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Requesting the set-up of new suppliers and maintaining supplier data
  • Processing voids and reissues of supplier payments
  • Preparing invoices/receipts for payment
  • Entering payment requests into the appropriate payment system
  • Training of Department staff on the DFS client management system
  • Conducting monthly reviews and reconciliations of expenditures for purchased goods and services
  • Reconciling procurement card purchases
  • Reviewing fiscal accounts, records, and transactions
  • Analyzing financial reports, identifying discrepancies, research errors and preparing necessary corrections and reconciliations
  • Maintaining detailed and audit-ready financial files
  • Working collaboratively in a team environment with Department and Countywide staff
  • Analyzing transaction data to ensure compliance with Federal, State and local funding requirements
  • Ensuring timely execution and completion of assigned projects; and may perform other administrative tasks as necessary
  • May perform other essential job functions specific to the position and department assignment.

Hiring salary commensurate with experience.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma; three (3) years of work experience related to assigned area; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Job Contingencies and Special Requirements

Criminal background check required. Based on assigned program area a credit and/or DMV check may also be required. For DMV check, valid driver's license and good driving record required (driving records may be reviewed annually for continued qualification). Positions in public safety may require fingerprinting and polygraph examination.
