What you'll do:

This senior-level position focuses on developing and executing strategic account plans to meet insurance sales objectives. You will build and maintain strong relationships with both new and existing insurance clients, acting as a trusted advisor and consultant. By collaborating with internal teams, you will identify and implement tailored solutions using our suite of banking products to address client business challenges, driving growth and expanding our client base. Additionally, you will support marketing efforts and represent the Bank at industry events, ensuring continuous engagement and knowledge expansion

within the insurance sector.

How you'll make an impact:
  • Drive Business Growth: By developing and executing strategic account plans, you'll directly contribute to meeting sales objectives and driving significant business growth.
  • Cultivate Key Relationships: Your role in servicing existing clients and cultivating new relationships will be pivotal in expanding our client base and enhancing member engagement.
  • Innovate and Influence: Partner with our Solutions Team to analyze business problems, identify opportunities, and influence decision-making, positioning yourself as a trusted advisor and key player in our success.


What you can expect:
  • Develop and execute account plans to meet insurance sales objectives and deliver outstanding results by developing strong relationships with insurance clients at the senior level within their finance and investment verticals.
  • Service existing insurance client relationships and strategically cultivate new ones to expand our client base within the insurance industry.
  • Collaborate with Solutions Team to analyze complex insurance client business challenges, identify opportunities for tailored solutions, and influence their decision-making criteria.
  • Prepare comprehensive insurance client engagement strategies by setting ambitious objectives and developing plans to sustain and grow usage of our diverse products lines (advances, MPF, LOCs, CICA/AHP, non-credit services).
  • Regularly review detailed insurance client sales progress reports and keep senior management informed of any obstacles or issues affecting business with key insurance accounts.
  • Support the Bank's marketing efforts by attending high-profile insurance industry trade shows, events, and Bank-sponsored training/events and regional meetings, while maintaining and expanding industry and knowledge of insurance products and industry trends.
  • Act as senior consultant and trusted advisor to insurance clients, negotiating complex credit arrangements, promoting and selling innovative solutions, and generating ideas for new business opportunities.
  • Collaborate closely with other departments at the FHLBank Chicago to support and structure sophisticated solutions tailored to the needs of insurance clients, driving their business growth.
  • Travel to meet with insurance clients directly and attend relevant trade association and conference events.


What you'll bring:
  • Bachelor's degree required, MBA in finance or banking preferred.
  • 15+ years of executive-level experience in banking/insurance/marketing in a financial institution
  • 10+ years of senior leadership and management experience
  • 10+ years of high-level experience negotiating interest rates, price, terms, and collateral requirements.
  • Extensive experience and proven experience in strategic planning and execution
  • Deep and comprehensive knowledge of finance and relevant insurance client specific issues, acquired through either an advanced degree or experience in investment banking, asset management, credit analysis, business development or relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience with formulating and crafting sales presentations.
  • Exceptional skills in negotiation, leadership, and sales, essential for managing and enhancing insurance client relationship.
  • Advanced and through knowledge of applicable insurance industry laws and regulations, usually acquired through extensive prior experience or the completion of a formal credit or rotational program, is preferred.
  • Superior analytical and communication skills required.
  • Highly effective organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 30-50% to achieve calling standards and 7:00am start time.
