Title: Senior Business Analyst

$85,000 - $95,000 / Posted Thru: 3-2-25

Location: Remote/Virtual

Purpose: Under the supervision of a Business Analyst Manager, the Senior Business Analyst will be assigned to a variety of projects including facilitation, organizational change management, business process analysis and improvement, grant maker implementation and oversight, RFP creation and management, and other projects for external and internal clients with a focus on public health. The emphasis of this position is on business and government projects with only occasional information technology work. This position may work as part of a team, independently, or lead a team.

Duties and Responsibilities:



  • Provide project management and/or project coordination services.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with clients and partners.
  • Analyze organizations, technologies, and processes to document existing practices and/or make recommendations for improvement.
  • Perform the following business analyst activities: project management or project coordination, map, document, and analyze business processes, develop briefing papers and reports for use by senior management and the client to inform decision making, policy and budget development, and revision, meeting facilitation including conflict management and group decision making and information technology activities such as requirements elicitation, functional design, and other system development lifecycle activities.
  • Perform research on current and relevant issues, policies, regulations and legislative changes that impact the provision of business analysis services to public health, human services, and other programs.
  • Lead project teams and work sessions when assigned.
  • Mentor and train less experienced team members.
  • Conduct root cause and gap analysis.
  • Prepare high quality deliverables such as papers, reports, graphs, charts and/or other documents to assist MPHI management team and clients to make informed business decisions.
  • Work with stakeholders to set and manage deliverable expectations.
  • Understand and communicate project scope.
  • Conduct enterprise analysis, including defining business needs, determining capability gaps, recommending solutions, and defining business cases.
  • Analyze complex data to assess policy effectiveness and to recommend development or modification of policies or strategies.
  • Assist in developing business opportunities, including generating proposals.
  • Maintain confidentiality of customers, staff, and MPHI proprietary information.
  • Maintain positive, strong, and credible professional and interpersonal relationships with all parties and always represent the best interests of MPHI.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Qualifications/Requirements:

Education: A bachelor's degree required. A degree in business analysis, public health, or another analysis-oriented field is preferred.

Experience: At least 10 years of work experience in business analysis, project management, and/or change management. Experience in a state government, federal government, in a non-profit environment and/or public health is preferred.

  • Proficiency with Business Process Modeling Notation (BPMN) or the demonstrated ability to learn quickly.
  • Exposure to Microsoft SharePoint or the demonstrated ability to learn quickly.



Work Environment and Physical Requirements: Job involves viewing a computer screen 75% to 100% of the time. This position may be 100% on-site in Okemos, Michigan, 100% remote, or a hybrid of remote and on-site. If the position is remote or hybrid, a highspeed and reliable internet connection is required.

IMPACT ON PROJECTS, SERVICES AND OPERATIONS: Business analysts have extended direct contact with customers. They function as subject matter experts and/or are responsible for the delivery of clear and useful analyses, recommendations, and reports. The quality of the work and the professionalism exhibited by the business analyst directly affects the reputation and perceived value of MPHI's services.
