POSITION SUMMARY:

Using independent judgment and discretion, this position manages, coordinates, and ensures the safety and health of all employees as well as protects the environment across assigned properties. This position will develop and implement safety plans, conduct safety training, investigate incidents/accidents and hazards, and recommend corrective actions to eliminate or reduce potential risks. The position will also monitor and implement environmental controls and permits to ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations. This position requires subject matter expertise in the areas of OSHA, state/federal safety standards and certifications, and environmental legal/regulatory licensing and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

* Managers all health, safety and environmental operations for assigned facilities

o Creates and implements safety policies, procedures and standards for all facilities, job roles and employees.

o Maintains all safety kits, tools, and equipment such as first aid kits, PPE, fire safety equipment (i.e. fire extinguishers, etc.) and manages all employee training on the correct usage of such kits, tools and equipment.

o Investigates all incidents at assigned facilities, including accidents, injuries, theft, damage, and/or potential accidents and/or injuries; notifies and submits timely, comprehensive investigation reports to corporate safety team per policy; creates and implements new/updated policies/procedures when necessary to prevent similar incidents from reoccurring.

o Monitors and maintains compliance with federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations, including but not limited to EPA, DOT, and OSHA requirements.

o Investigates hazardous conditions and recommends corrective measures.

o Conducts safety and environmental training and awareness programs.

o Monitors and ensures the use of safety equipment and personal protective equipment and compliance with company safety standards and policies.

o Stays informed of changes in safety and environmental regulations and legislation to ensure compliance.

o Conducts regular site inspections to identify potential environmental hazards and/or other safety hazards and recommends corrective actions.

o Collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement and track safety and environmental improvement initiatives.

o Timely prepares and submits regulatory reports and permits.

o Ensures that comprehensive and effective daily safety briefings/meetings are occurring per policy at all assigned facilities.

o Moniotors and maintains all safety boards at assigned facilities

o Monitors company Safety Portal and compliance/environmental spreadsheets and/or databases, communicating important information/requirements to local leadership team to ensure adherence to policies/deadlines

o Ensures Safety Committees are established at each site, trained, and following all safety committee guidelines per policy including holding monthly meetings, training/communicating about required topics, and submitting the required monthly reports/materials to the corporate safety team in a timely manner.

o Assists with new hire/onboarding, annual/renewal and other routine/needed employee safety trainings and certifications on a timely basis; and maintains/uploads records and certifications in designated systems.

o Continuously monitors the safety of all facilities and employees; this includes regularly visiting worksites and evaluating facilities, equipment, and employees/processes for any potential safety/environmental hazards or risks of loss and immediately implementing steps to eliminate or mediate any such hazard or risk.

* Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

* Associates or Bachelors Degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Sciences or related discipline.

* Strong passion for safety, health, and environmental conservation.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Bilingual English & Spanish.

* Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

* Valid driver's license and the ability to travel approx. 30% of time to various work sites.

* Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, Outlook, SCMS as well as Cloud based apps/platforms.

* Familiar with current OSHA requirements for all operations and workers compensation reporting requirements.

* Strong leadership and team building skills with the ability to foster a cooperative and collaborative work environment.

* Demonstrates organizational skills, maturity, assertiveness, and the ability to meet deadlines.

* Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures.

* Knowledge of budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management principles and procedures.
