JOB SUMMARY

The Senior Manager, Software Engineering, will lead a software team in developing cutting-edge products for the power industry. The ideal candidate will have a passion for leading teams in delivering complex products and solving technical problems. This position is located at our Marlborough, MA Headquarters, reporting to the Chief Technology Officer.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS



  • Oversee the development of the Protection Suite Software and device firmware for Doble's family of protection simulators
  • Provides direction for the technical leads and managers of software and firmware development teams
  • Direct the software engineering staff in the creation of specifications and designs from requirements
  • Oversee the Agile Development process by assessing Epics, Stories, and Sprints
  • Provide decisive and effective technical leadership and ensure the best practices, methodologies and processes are established and followed
  • Work closely with product management on bringing technical requirements to the teams
  • Work with managers to develop schedules, resource loading and project tracking
  • Monitor daily progress through Standups
  • Drive continuous improvement in system development by tracking quarterly KPIs
  • Work with the system architects and product managers to develop product plans and roadmaps
  • Evaluate and track the performance and goal progress of the software engineering staff, providing career development, technical guidance, and continuous feedback


QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

BS in Computer Science or related field required. A Master's Degree is desirable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:



  • 10+ years of experience developing new software products
  • 5+ years of experience managing people at the department level or above directing multiple concurrent projects


  • Proven record of delivering projects on time with high quality
  • Experienced in the Agile Development Methodology
  • Experience in SQL or equivalent database technology
  • Experience with Linux /Windows development packages and deployment


PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required):



  • Understanding of Cyber Security and assessment of threat vectors
  • Methodology for developing secure software
  • Distributed systems


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstration of strong communication skills, both written and oral, including the ability to express ideas concisely and clearly cross-functionally and at all levels within the company
  • Ability to influence key decision makers regarding product and technology issues


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job the employee is often required to stand, sit, use computers, read, write, type, use copy machines, file paperwork, use telephones, and utilize written and oral communication to interact with clients, co-workers and customers. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals to perform the essential functions of this job. Must be capable of lifting 30 pounds. Must use assistance when lifting 50 or more pounds.

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.
Salary Pay Range Minimum $155,631.53 - Midpoint $194,539.41
