Summary:

What you will be doing... Your IMPACT



  • Plan and execute barge and boat schedules within assigned river segment.
  • Identify short-term power needs within assigned river segment.
  • Provide area manager with daily activity forecast and validate current plan.
  • Communicate boat and barge positions, schedules, and other information as required.
  • Update barge release and placement information.
  • Notify customers of pending barge arrivals, projected availability, and barge placements and releases.
  • Assist in planning and coordinating fleet boat and barge movement in a safe manner that maximizes fleet boat utilization and minimizes use of external fleet power.
  • Maximize cleaning and repair facility utilization and minimize barge idle days and shifting costs at internal fleets.
  • Manage vendor activities within assigned river segment with a focus on generating fleet speed and barge capacity.
  • Enter vendor, barge and other traffic data into computer system.
  • Communicate orders to harbor service vendors and coordinate port occurrences.
  • Monitor barge traffic for exceptions and make corrections.
  • Ensure compliance with company policy and government regulations.
  • Initiate process improvements on work flow to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.


What we are looking for...



  • High School Diploma or GED is Required.
  • A valid Driver's License is required.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • 3-5 Years of logistics experience is required.
  • Competence in dispatching, logistics or fleet planning techniques is required.
  • Proficiency in using office productivity software such MS Office is desired.
  • Ability to multi-task and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possession of organizational skills and results orientation.
  • Must be dependable in attendance and meet deadlines as established.
  • Ability to determine priorities and drive decisions with critical thinking.


Even better if you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience in the Maritime/Marine Transporation industry.
  • 0-3 years previous experience in an office environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of barging operations and river system is a plus.
