Job Summary:

As a Materials & Process Engineer at NMG Aerospace, you are accountable for improving business competitive advantage by leveraging best manufacturing practices / appropriate technology in their specific area of expertise (ex: processing/machining/welding/assembly). This position commands a deep working knowledge of specific manufacturing processes and a demonstrated ability to keep abreast of the latest manufacturing technologies in industry.

Essential Job Functions:



  • Identifies and resolves technical issues.
  • Develops projects to improve manufacturing processes.
  • Provides technical support as needed.
  • Participates in NADCAP audits.
  • Acts as liaison to suppliers for product quality and manufacturing planning needs
  • Works with suppliers to ensure product conformity and pre-production planning.
  • Supports company technical strategic roadmap and development in areas of expertise.
  • Supports new business proposals/creates & validates cost estimates / process risk analysis.
  • Supports new process evaluation, development and implementation.
  • Primary contact for design engineering or program management on materials and processing issues, opportunities and development
  • Review/Approve manufacturing plans and special processing technique sheets/routers for manufactured in house and bought out complete products.
  • Supports activities related to RCCA, PFMEA, and cost reductions / process improvements.
  • Review, approval and implementation of product design and technical documentation changes related to manufacturing.
  • Work with product engineers and/or program managers to support effective product industrialization.
  • Act as primary point of contact for specialized manufacturing processes (NADCAP)



Additional Duties:



  • Support supply chain and quality with supplier development activities as needed
  • Support resolution of supplier quality issues as required
  • Mentor / guide quality engineers, process engineers, supply chain resources and manufacturing technical resourcesProvide support for Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives, companywide.
  • Other duties, reporting, special assignments, or projects as needed and assigned.
  • Must remain current with, and complete all required training as assigned.


Must adhere to Company Corporate EHS Policy and department, occupation, and task specific safety protocols, including but not limited to Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.

Qualifications:



  • 10+ years of materials and processing experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Ability to read and understand industry and customer specifications for materials, machining, heat treat, NDT, plating, coating, shot peen, anodize and paint.
  • Ability to work effectively on a team or in project group.
  • Proven track record of process implementation, process optimization, trouble shooting.
  • Ability to implement change and train employees in a production floor environment and in a professional engineering environment.
  • Ability to view and interpret 3D models.
  • Excellent technical, written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Support BOM & Method validation for product realization


  • Must submit to and satisfactorily pass any pre-employment screening required for employment with the Company.
  • Must take medical exams required by law, in conjunction with occupation specific activities, the physical work environment, and ongoing industrial hygiene sampling results.
  • Depending on assignment, may be required to use stairs, remain upright and/or seated for prolonged timeframes, intermittently reposition the body per various tasks performed, and use various tools and work-related supplies.
  • May be required to perform manual lifting activities, not to exceed a 40lb lift performed by one individual.



Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Engineering; or substantially equivalent work experience.
