About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and licensed Sr. Fire Protection Engineer (FPE) to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, analyzing, and implementing fire protection systems and ensuring compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and regulations. This role requires expertise in fire suppression, alarm and detection systems, life safety, and fire dynamics, as well as collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to enhance fire safety strategies.

What You Will Do
  • Fire Protection System Design: Develop and review fire protection system designs, including suppression, alarm, and detection systems, to meet local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Code Compliance & Regulatory Review: Ensure compliance with NFPA, IBC, IFC, OSHA, and other applicable codes and standards. Work closely with AHJs (Authorities Having Jurisdiction) to obtain necessary approvals.
  • Risk Assessment & Fire Modeling: Conduct fire hazard analyses, risk assessments, and performance-based fire engineering evaluations using fire modeling software.
  • Project Management: Lead fire protection projects from concept to completion, including cost estimation, procurement, and contractor oversight.
  • Testing & Inspection: Oversee system testing, commissioning, and inspections to verify operational effectiveness and compliance with design specifications.
  • Collaboration & Technical Support: Work closely with architects, engineers, and facility managers to integrate fire protection solutions into building and industrial designs.
  • Training & Documentation: Develop fire safety procedures, emergency response plans, and conduct training for employees, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Incident Investigation: Support fire incident investigations, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
What You Need
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Fire Protection Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in Fire Protection Engineering required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fire protection engineering, system design, and code compliance.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in fire modeling software (e.g., FDS, CFAST, Pathfinder).
    • Experience with hydraulic calculation tools (e.g., AutoSPRINK, FireCAD, SprinklerCalc).
    • Familiarity with BIM and CAD software (e.g., Revit, AutoCAD).
    • Strong knowledge of NFPA, IBC, IFC, and OSHA regulations.
  • Certifications (Preferred):
    • Certified Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS)
    • NICET Certification in Fire Alarm or Sprinkler Systems
    • OSHA 30-Hour Certification
  • Soft Skills:
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
    • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Understands and follows all standards of IATF16949 and VDA 6.3 quality standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)
  • Understands and follows all standards of ISO14001 environmental standards. (training and awareness will be provided for those who are not familiar with these standards)

Work Environment
