Responsibilities

Conducts logical analysis of management problems and management information requirements and formulates mathematical models of problems for solutions by computer.
  • Prepares mathematical models of problem areas in forms of one of several equations that relate constants and variables, restrictions, alternatives, conflicting objectives and their numerical parameters.
  • Gathers, relates, identifies data with variables in models by applying personal judgment and mathematical tests.
  • Reviews operations and testing of models to ensure adequacy or determines needs for reformulation.
  • Analyzes operations methods, which require substantial competence in the rigorous methods of scientific and mathematical inquiry and analysis.
  • Prepares written, non-technical reports to management, indicating solutions or range of possible alternatives in rank of desirability and probability of success when there is no single solution.

What You'll Do:

  • Play a critical role in national security by supporting the development and evaluation of next-generation Intercontinental Ballistic Missile (ICBM) systems for the Air Force Operational Test and Evaluation Center (AFOTEC).
  • Design, plan, and execute comprehensive test plans to assess ICBM system effectiveness, suitability, and combat capability - from establishing test objectives and conducting analyses to delivering insightful reports.
  • Leverage your expertise in Design of Experiments (DOE) techniques to optimize test design and ensure robust data collection.
  • Develop and implement innovative analytical methodologies, tools, and models to evaluate system performance against key metrics.
  • Analyze test/assessment capabilities, identify requirements and shortfalls, perform trade-off analyses, and recommend solutions.
  • Identify and analyze potential risks, limitations, and mitigation strategies throughout the testing process.
  • Collaborate with the Test Director and a high-performing team to provide timely, high-quality analysis across all test phases and venues.
  • Clearly communicate complex technical findings and recommendations to leadership through compelling reports and presentations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Operations Research, Industrial Engineering, or a related degree
  • 6 years of experience in the field of Operations Research or similar analytical application
  • Experience with Design of Experiments concepts and statistical principles
  • Proficient in use of Microsoft Office products
  • Proficient in use of analytical software such as R, MATLAB, JMP, or equivalent
  • SECRET clearance with less than five years since the last investigation closed out. Candidates must also have the ability to obtain clearance and Special Access Program (SAP) clearances to perform the work. Candidates who already possess a TOP SECRET clearance are highly desired.
  • Position requires practical application of one or more of the following: (1) Independently formulating and applying design of experiments, (2) Independently formulating and applying analytical tools, specifically: means, medians, percentiles, deviations, ANOVA, Generalized Linear Regression, Logistic Regression, Multivariate Analysis, and Factor Analysis, (3) Independently creating automated analytical toolsets as necessary, (4) Academic and practical application of the verification, validation, and accreditation of modeling and simulation.
