Job Purpose

Monitor and coordinate day-to-day transportation operations performed by Shipping Specialists/Administrators to achieve targeted transport costs and level of service for domestic and international purchases as well as

product shipments, and meet operational requirements and customer satisfaction.


Core Responsibilities

  • Assist the supervisor in planning and monitoring working time of the Transportation team(s) in order to balance workload, track overtime, offset absences, prevent accidents and minimze business disruptions.
  • Provide instant operational capacity as a Transportation team member in the event of workload spikes or absences.
  • Act as main point of contact for international vendors, forwarders, customs and other regulators to address questions or issues related to operational aspects of imports/exports and transportation.
  • Coordinate streamlining of import/export processes with the Trade Affairs department to secure compliance with relevant/applicable regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication with internal/external customers to prevent/minimize business disruptions.
  • Resolve system and/or process issues involving transportation and escalate cross-functional cases to thesupervisor.
  • Review consistency, accuracy and efficiency of transportation processes and drive improvement initiatives via hands-on performance monitoring, technical and behavioral (safety) trainings as well as coaching.
  • Develop other transportation coordinators in international requirements to ensure backup.
  • Assist the department head in personnel development, including providing guidance to performance objectives/appraisals.


Academic Background

  • Vocational diploma in logistics


Professional experience

  • 6 to 8 years of experience in shipping/logistics in a manufacturing environment.
  • 0 to 2 years of experience in people management.


Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of warehouse process flow.
  • Proficiency in shipping and receiving regulations and protocol.
  • Good knowledge of transportation supplier landscape.
  • Good knowledge of material/product safety/security norms and regulations.
  • Solid IT skills (SAP preferred, MS Office)- Expertise in regulations applicable to import/export.
