  • Estimated annual base pay: $91,840 (minimum) - $114,800 (midpoint) - $137,760 (maximum)

Are you ready to make your mark? If you're a Environmental Health & Safety Specialist 2, we have an exciting opportunity for you. The EHS Specialist will be responsible for the implementation and maintenance of a comprehensive Environmental, Health and Safety Management System for a local plant site. Part of this role will be to assure adherence to the Woodward Global EHS strategies by developing and coordinating tactical and risk reduction programs to maintain site productivity goals and continuous improvement objectives. What You Will Be Doing
  • Establishes and implements short and long range EHS tactical programs, goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures in line with internal and external requirements; monitors and evaluates program effectiveness and KPI's; effects change necessary for improvement.
  • Responsible for implementing, managing, and maintaining EHS programs, procedures, practices, and training for the site(s) as determined. Designs and implements workplace solutions processes and procedures that help protect members from hazardous work conditions, and adverse impact of production activities to the environment.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, including those set by the DTSC, CUPA, CARB, and SCAQMD.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental permits, reports, and documentation (e.g., air emissions, hazardous waste, and stormwater permits).
  • Conduct environmental audits and inspections to identify risks and ensure adherence to all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the proper handling, storage, transportation, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste generated during aerospace manufacturing processes.
  • Maintain accurate records of hazardous waste manifests and coordinate with waste disposal vendors.
  • Manage SPCC, POTW, and SWPPP and ensure compliance with discharge permit.
  • Serve as a point of contact for internal teams, regulatory agencies, and external auditors regarding environmental concerns.
What We Are Looking For
  • US - bachelor's degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) bachelor's degree in arts/sciences (BA/BS) Occupational Safety, Health and/or Environmental Science, Hazardous Materials Technology, or other related field preferred; may substitute appropriate work experience for education required.
  • 5+ years' Experience in Occupational Safety and/or Environmental, with minimum 3 years in a manufacturing environment or other relevant/applicable industry or agency. Required.
  • 10% Company business, including travel between plants.
  • Subject Matter Expertise level of knowledge and experience with environmental, safety and health programs in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in investigating and analyzing for root cause and corrective actions.
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Familiar with EHS software management systems, i.e., GENSUITE.
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.)
This position requires use of information which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR). Skills/Knowledge:

  • High level proficiency and skill in assessing and evaluating environmental, health and safety exposures and risks
  • Experience in investigating and analyzing for root cause and corrective actions.
  • Experience in workplace inspections and audit management
  • Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively with colleagues who possess varying degrees of EHS subject matter knowledge
  • Familiar with EHS software management systems, i.e. GENSUITE.
  • Familiar with Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Power BI, SharePoint, etc.)
  • Familiar with other data management analytics software.
