Job Description Serves as administrator for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, including its academic unit in the College of Medicine (COM) and its practice plan (FGP). Directs, supervises, and coordinates functions and activities; ensures proper adherence to organization and department policies, objectives, and operating procedures; provides strategic management information to academic and practice plan leadership and oversees day-to-day administrative operations in areas of human resources, accounts receivable management, accounting and fiscal affairs (financial reporting and analysis, budgeting, expense control and revenue enhancement), space, research, promotion amp; tenure, and safety compliance; demonstrates expertise in a variety of academic and clinical physician group concepts, practices, and procedures; supports the Chairperson and faculty in development and implementation of strategy and policies; relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals; leads and directs the work of others through collaboration and accountability; a wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected; demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; reports to Department Chair with dotted line reporting relationships to the Chief of Staff/Senior Director of Administration, College of Medicine; Executive Director, Faculty Group Practice; duties are shared between OSU COM and FGP. Function Statement: Directs, leads and manages all major departmental fiscal, human resources, educational, clinical, and research operations for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation with approximately 40 faculty and over 40 staff with full accountability for a total budget of approximately $20 million, which includes both clinical ($15M) and the academic budgets ($5M) This person plans, develops and establishes departmental and divisional strategic plans; defines and establishes short- and long-range objectives; participates in professional organizations; develops professional networks.
Minimum Education Required Bachelor's Degree in business administration, health services management and policy, or related area; or equivalent combination of education and experience Required Qualifications At least 7 years of experience in a progressively responsible management or administrative capacity required, preferably in an academic medical center and/or physician group; knowledge of business administration, health care management and accounting principles and applications preferred; experience managing a large academic program, department or school preferred; knowledge of University policies, rules and regulations desired; knowledge of WorkDay for management of HR and fiscal functions desired; knowledge of practice relating research grants and contracts; successful candidate will be results oriented with excellent interpersonal communication skills and proven organizational leadership ability. Experience in Health care administration or related field highly desirable.
