Staff Automation Engineer

Staff Automation Engineer, Smith & Nephew, Inc., Memphis, TN: Oversee and be responsible for managing multiple automation projects in multiple locations including Smith and Nephew locations and automation integrators: establish and manage project plans and budgets for these projects ensuring manufacturing requirements, cost, quality, ROI, and timing expectations are met. Identify opportunities for savings via automation projects across the Smith + Nephew manufacturing network and develop project proposals and capital expense requests that accurately predict costs, ROI, and schedule for major programs. Identify and prioritize key strategic programs and weigh alternatives for project execution using in-house and third-party resources. Design and/or oversee manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation, processing, machining, and material handling. Design and/or oversee the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure most efficient and productive layout. Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field plus 10 years of post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or related role in the Manufacturing industry. Alternatively, the employer would accept a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or a related field plus 8 years of experience in the job offered or related role in the Manufacturing industry. Must be willing to travel domestically up to 20% of the time to visit client sites, suppliers, and conduct capital projects.
