13 month Contract role
General Overview of Contract role:
At an entry level, performs manual and clerical duties involved in the daily operation of company warehouses, storage areas, and laydown yards.
Performs inventory and materials management tasks, including material handling, shipping/receiving, stock maintenance, disposal and coordination of material movements between warehouses, facilities and project sites.
Operates material handling equipment.
This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues. Issues, receives, stores and/or transfers materials for jobs Minimum
Qualifications: Zero or more years of experience in materials handling or warehouse operations.
* Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of warehouse and stores practices
* Knowledge of materials, supplies and equipment for assigned work area
* Knowledge of maintenance and construction terminology
* Knowledge of accounting principles and practices Skill in operation of materials handling equipment used in department (including forklift, pallet jack, etc.)
* Skill in verbal and written communication Skill in communicating effectively with team members, supervision/management and external organizations including customers and vendors
* Skill in providing customer service Skill in reading and using pick list in order to expedite the availability of materials Basic skill level in office productivity applications (such as email, word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
* Basic skill level in using work management systems for inventory control and receiving functions
* Ability to work in a team environment Ability to balance and manage competing high priority work demands
Work Environment:
* Work hours are spent in a warehouse and outdoor environment Work involves callout Work involves weekends, holidays and nonstandard hours
* Works at heights up to 20 ft Work involves exposure to noise
* Work involves exposure to various and sometimes extreme weather conditions Works in close proximity to energized high voltage electrical equipment
* Work requires use of protective equipment
* Work involves handling and inspecting equipment and material containing hazardous chemicals and wastes
Physical Demands:
* Work involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in using a keyboard, mouse and hand tools
* involves frequent finger/hand manipulation in operating material handling equipment Work involves constant climbing, crawling, crouching or other non-sitting positions in storing and retrieving materials
* Work involves constant standing and/or walking in taking inventory and receiving, storing, retrieving and delivering materials
* Frequently lifts and carries up to 70 pounds
* Frequently pushes or pulls up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 70 Performs work at chest level or higher, including overhead full arm extension holding up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds
* Work involves frequent climbing of ladders or platform ladders
