Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
As a support to the admissions outreach and enrollment efforts, the Enrollment Coaches guide incoming and continuing education students on the application to programs and career pathways offered at the College and guide students to the next steps on their path. Enrollment Coaches will be able to explain educational requirements for health care, career technical programs, certificates, and degrees as students navigate the enrollment pipeline. The Coaches create an environment in which students strengthen their self-advocacy by helping them navigate the tasks that prepare them toward successful enrollment, such as placement, accessing financial aid, and evaluation of prior transcripts using assigned high school and adult students' cohorts. The Coaches will link students to the proper advising support needed by the student to build an educational plan and complete a new student orientation.

  • Navigates and manages conversations with prospective students to discover identify the student's needs and help reduce potential barriers to enrollment.
  • Directs purposeful discussion with students to identify strengths and challenges, and provide coaching regarding viable pathways that will lead to select a program.
  • Assists prospective students in exploring and identifying their desired program of study including new pathways, stackable certificates, program deadlines and important dates.
  • Collaborates with Academic Advising and Access and Accommodations departments to identify students who will benefit from early referrals to their services.
  • Works closely with Dual Credit/Dual Enrollment team to retain program graduates and guide them through the enrollment process. Ease the matriculation of DC/DE graduates to ensure COD is the top choice.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with the college's academic advisors and assists students in understanding the academic expectations that guide program academic eligibility and progress.
  • Prepares students for the first-year seminar, provides a seamless transition to their assigned academic advisor and helps students get registered for NSO.
  • Actively researches and maintains awareness of current enrollment trends and best practices regarding student success and retention and work closely with the Assistant Director of Onboarding in implementing, evaluating, and improving retention strategies.
  • Effectively manages all aspects of the enrollment funnel for prospective students with a completed application ensuring that barriers to enrollment are identified and mitigated.
  • Maintains detailed and thorough notes on individual coaching sessions using unit and campus level reporting mechanisms to ensure seamless handoff to the designated student advisor.
  • Partners to create an individual student financial plan ensuring students are aware of federal financial aid options, financial resources, and payment options and procedures.
  • Provides one on one meetings, and workshops, to educate students on the benefits of attending COD and builds awareness of college and career options by pathway.
  • Develops, collects, analyzes, and reports on data from assigned coaching territory.
  • Leverages college tools and one-on-one coaching to educate and empower students as they navigate COD systems.
  • Analyzes current and historical admissions trends within designated territory and develop and implement strategies to surpass enrollment goals.
  • Participates in walk-in rotations to provide coaching to students seeking assistance on how to progress through the enrollment funnel.


  • Qualifications:

    • Education
      • Bachelor's Degree required.
      • Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Student Service Personnel, or relevant area preferred.
    • Experience
      • Two to three years of admissions experience on a student success related position which required directly guiding and/or supporting students through the enrollment process, including the use of a database or inquiry management system required; Previous community college experience especially admissions or student affairs preferred.
      • Proficiency in written and spoken English required.
      • Bilingual Preferred.
      • Strong oral/written communication and interpersonal, presentation, computer (word processing, internet, email, database) and organizational skills.
      • Demonstrated strategic planning, follow-up and organizational skills required; case management skills, flexibility, strong interpersonal skills and self-motivated required.
      • Demonstrated ability to understand multicultural perspectives as it relates to student success.


    Working Conditions:

  • Computer, FAX, copier, laptop computer, computer projector.
  • While the majority of the work is done sitting or standing, the ability to lift boxes weighing up to 40 pounds is also necessary.
  • Ability to travel with nights and weekends required.
  • This position requires a background check and drug screen.

    Hiring Range:
    Classified 7/Hiring salary begins at $21.70 based on experience

    Competitive starting pay is dependent on education and experience.
